  • Vít Javůrek has become the new CEO of the company
  • Stefan Gross-Selbeck will serve as Chairman of the Supervisory Board from April
  • Michał Borek has been promoted to the position of Head of International Markets

Woltair, one of the leading Czech startups, has undergone a transformation and is entering a new, more flexible and digital phase. The startup is now headed by the new CEO, Vít Javůrek, and is also strengthening its team by creating a new position in its structure, the chairman of the Supervisory Board. Stefan Gross-Selbeck will assume this position from April. Michał Borek, as Head of International Markets, will supervise business in Polish, German, and Italian markets.

Woltair, previously led by Jan Hanuš, recorded a three-fold increase in sales last year, exceeding the threshold of 1 billion Czech crowns (approx. 170 million PLN) and achieving profitability in the Czech Republic. The company also underwent a key transformation by launching the unique Superfix platform, which also serves external experts and fitters. The development and launch of this platform significantly simplified the Woltair sales process and overall operational management. The preparation and practical testing of the expansion strategy to other European countries were also crucial. After a successful transformation, Jan Hanuš’s mission came to an end, and he handed over the leadership to the long-time financial director, Vít Javůrek. His task will be to lead the company to further growth, which can be expected in the coming years.

“Thanks to his experience, Jan was able to fundamentally transform Woltair into the company it is today. Thanks to his effective development, we managed to digitize most of our routine processes, which helped streamline our organizational structure and prepare the company for the next chapter of development. Thanks to Jan, we are now technologically ready and have a tested strategy to achieve this,” says newly appointed CEO Vít Javůrek. For the last three years, he was the company’s CFO. Vít is a graduate of the prestigious HEC University in Paris, where he studied finance and management. After his studies, he moved to investment banking in London and then spent seven years as a consultant at McKinsey & Company, where he focused on corporate finance and strategy.

Javůrek’s mission at Woltair will be to guide the company through the uncertain environment currently prevailing in the European heating installation market.

“We managed to find a flexible operating model that allows us to easily survive market fluctuations. In Europe itself, the heat pump market can reach a potential of 900 billion euros in the coming years.

Stefan Gross-Selbeck, the new Chairman of the Supervisory Board, has been successfully building and managing companies and digital platforms for over 20 years. He previously held senior management positions at eBay, New Work SA, and ProSiebenSat1 AG. Recently, he served as a senior partner and managing director at Boston Consulting Group (BCG), where he held the position of global managing partner of BCG Digital Ventures and also headed the X Green Tech BCG department, which leads global activities in the field of green technologies and building enterprises for a clean economy.

In his new role at Woltair, Stefan will be involved in coordinating actions and duties on the investor’s side. Thanks to his vast experience in managing technology companies at the global level, he will contribute to the strategic management of Woltair to ensure that the company achieves its long-term business and expansion goals.

“I am honored to become the chairman of the Supervisory Board of Woltair, which has the chance to play an important role in the European transformation of heating systems. Throughout my career, I have been involved in building and scaling up fast-growing tech companies and I can’t wait to use my experience to help develop Woltair, which has ambitions for further expansion in Europe,” says Stefan Gross-Selbeck.

“We are delighted that a person with such vast knowledge as Stefan is joining the Supervisory Board. We appreciate that our digitized business model is attracting the interest of global investors and executive staff, confirming that we are on the right track to achieve our ambitious plan to help the planet decarbonize,” said Vít Javůrek.

Michał Borek, who previously served as Country Manager of the Polish branch of Woltair, was promoted to the position of Head of International Markets in March, overseeing the company in the Polish, German, and Italian markets. He is responsible for the “go to market” strategy which is aimed at further expansion of the company to international markets. His duties also include identifying and fitting products suitable for a given country, so that the company can effectively solve technicians’ and customers’ problems.

Michał Borek previously worked as a consultant at Accenture, where he specialized in PMO (post-merger integration) projects in the banking sector. Later, as General Manager of the Polish branch of Lime, he achieved significant growth in profitability and development of the company, expanding its operations from 3 to over 50 cities in Poland.

Woltair operates as a startup under this name since 2021. The years 2022 and 2023 were marked by transformation, two investment rounds, and expansion, with the company extending its operations from the Czech Republic to Italy and Germany last year, simultaneously strengthening its position in Poland.
