Interest in Lexus cars is growing in Europe. In the first quarter of this year, the brand sold 19,160 vehicles, marking a 48% increase from the first three months of 2023. A staggering 93% of Lexus customers opted for electrified drivetrains, with nearly 100% in Western Europe (including Poland) choosing this option. From January to March, 17,607 Lexus vehicles with hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and battery electric drivetrains were sold, a 10% year-over-year increase.

European customers are attracted to the brand’s broad offering of crossover and SUV body styles, particularly the electrified models from the D-SUV Premium and E-SUV Premium segments, namely the NX, RX, and RZ. The brand’s position in the premium market will also be bolstered by the LBX, available with a new hybrid system in front-wheel drive or E-FOUR all-wheel drive versions. The first units of this revolutionary urban crossover have already reached customers.

NX No. 1 in Europe

The NX continues to be Lexus’s most popular vehicle in the European market. In the first quarter, customers purchased 7,186 units of this vehicle (+47%). Of these, 4,165 were the classic hybrid (NX 350h), and 2,824 were plug-in hybrids (NX 450h+).

The second most popular Lexus model at the start of 2024 in Europe is the RX. Sales of this model grew by 29% to 3,684 units. One third of these were the RX 450h+, the plug-in hybrid version (1,281 units), and 1,842 units were vehicles with the classic hybrid (RX 350h) or the new, powerful hybrid with a turbocharged engine and DIRECT4 4×4 drive (RX 500h).

The UX also maintains a strong position in the Lexus range, debuting its fifth generation hybrid this year. Since the beginning of the year, 3,520 units of this crossover have been sold. The hybrid drivetrain was the most popular choice (2,892 units), and 556 customers opted for the electric UX 300e with a 72.8 kWh battery.

The ES remains the most popular sedan in the Lexus range in Europe. Of the 1,625 units sold in the first quarter, the vast majority (1,534 units) were vehicles with the economical and reliable hybrid drivetrain.
