COMPANIESIntermarché and Bricomarché see sales growth in the first half of 2024

The Musketeers Group achieved total turnover of close to PLN 5.2 billion in the first half of 2024 within the Intermarché and Bricomarché chains, recording almost a 7% increase year on year. During the past six months, both brands consistently executed their chosen development strategy, resulting in both the opening of new outlets and new customer facilities, as well as customer programs. As a result, the Musketeers Group confirms its objectives and expects to reach PLN 11 billion in turnover by the end of 2024, in spite of the challenging market.

Intermarché, with new stores and rising turnover

The first half of the year was marked by growth for the Intermarché network. From January to June, turnover, including petrol stations, amounted to PLN 3.1 billion, leading to a 2.9% like-for-like sales growth excluding fuel. Within this time period, the brand launched three supermarkets covering a total area of 4.6 thousand square metres and plans to open more outlets in the forthcoming two quarters.

Notably in the past six months, was Intermarché’s announcement regarding plans to form a purchasing alliance with Auchan Polska. In May, the brands informed about establishing a partnership aimed at creating a long-term purchasing alliance, a unique form of cooperation in the Polish market.

Intermarché launched new initiatives and customer promotions from January to June, with more than 20 thousand promotions conducted. These included a decrease in regular prices of several products, ‘WOW Prices’ campaign and several special limited offers for ‘My Intermarché’ program members.

The brand continued to implement environmentally friendly solutions in their stores, having installed solar panels in 30% of the outlets and switched to eco-efficient lighting in 70% of the stores.

Bricomarché maintaining robust turnover growth

As per the chosen development strategy, the first half of this year was a period of dynamic expansion for Bricomarché. The brand opened 18 stores out of the 25 planned for the year. All sales outlets generated a turnover of PLN 2.1 billion, reflecting a 13.8% growth year on year.

Moreover, the brand continued to support local communities, a goal which aligns with the chain’s key values. Additionally, Bricomarché is implementing eco-friendly solutions in their supermarkets, having already installed photovoltaic panels in over 50% of their branches and replaced lighting with environmentally efficient systems in 80% of the stores.

Plans of Musketeers for the upcoming months

Both Intermarché and Bricomarché brands have undertaken innovative action and expressed eagerness to continue developing in the remaining part of the year. Marc Dherment, General Director of the Musketeers Group in Poland, stated that their ambition is to achieve a PLN 11 billion turnover by the end of the year. This is seen as a key stage before other milestones in the development path of the Musketeers Group in Poland.
