COMPANIESEDP Energia Polska Begins Collaboration with Columbus Energy

EDP Energia Polska has entered into an agreement to commence cooperation with Columbus Energy. The agreement includes the construction of photovoltaic farms with an investment potential of a total installed capacity of approximately 61 MWp.

The signed agreements will enable EDP Energia Polska to collaborate with 21 companies from the Columbus Energy Group in construction work on photovoltaic farm projects owned by the Columbus Group. Projects with an investment potential of up to around 61 MWp will be carried out independently by EDP Energia Polska or in collaboration with Columbus.

According to the planned schedule, all work should be completed by 2025. Upon the completion and commissioning of these projects, the Columbus Management Board plans to take steps towards their sale or changing the financing structure to project finance.

“As a global leader in sustainable solutions, we are eager to share the experience of the global EDP Group. The signed agreement, with an investment potential of 61 MWp, confirms our capabilities to implement the largest photovoltaic projects in Poland. The investment process will be based on agreed projects in Columbus’s portfolio that are ready for construction. Such a significant investment will undoubtedly have a substantial impact on the energy market supply and accelerate the energy transformation of Polish business,” said Ireneusz Kulka, Country Manager of EDP Energia Polska.

The new installations will generate clean, emission-free energy from the sun. In the case of the Polish energy mix, replacing 61 MW with purely green energy will eliminate carbon dioxide emissions by over 41,000 tons annually. For the Earth to absorb this amount of CO2 in a year, almost 7 million mature trees would be needed.
