A surprising turn has occurred in the battle for succession within the empire of Zygmunt Solorz. As reported by Onet, a court in Liechtenstein has decided to appoint a curator to two of the billionaire’s key foundations: TIVI and SOLKOMTEL. This decision aims to prevent Solorz and his wife, Justyna Kulka, from disinheriting his sons and blocking the transfer of assets from the foundations.
Blocking Assets and Limiting Solorz’s Rights
The Liechtenstein court has suspended Solorz’s right to appoint members to the governing bodies of the TIVI and SOLKOMTEL foundations. Furthermore, the billionaire is no longer allowed to issue commands or approve resolutions, under threat of their invalidity. Decisions will now be made by an independent curator from Liechtenstein, who will consult with Katarzyna Tomczak, linked to Solorz’s children, instead of Tomasz Szeląg, who represents Solorz.
This is a major victory for Zygmunt Solorz’s children, who have been fighting to protect the family’s wealth and prevent it from being seized by Justyna Kulka.
Troubles at Polsat Group and ZE PAK
The court’s decision in Liechtenstein has negatively affected companies controlled by Zygmunt Solorz. On Tuesday, Cyfrowy Polsat’s shares were among the weakest in the WIG20 index. Polsat Group, Solorz’s media and telecommunications empire, has long been one of the cornerstones of his wealth.
In early October, changes also occurred at ZE PAK, an energy company within Solorz’s portfolio. The general assembly dismissed Solorz’s sons, Piotr Żak and Tobiasz Solorz, from the supervisory board of the company. ZE PAK is involved in lignite mining and the production of electricity and heat, making it a key part of Solorz’s investment portfolio.
The dispute is not limited to Liechtenstein. A court in Limassol, Cyprus, also issued injunctions against the foundations, Cypriot companies linked to Zygmunt Solorz, and Solorz himself. This decision means that Solorz cannot make key decisions regarding the ownership and management structure of companies associated with Polsat Group.
Solorz Children’s Reaction
In an official statement to Gazeta Wyborcza, Zygmunt Solorz’s children emphasized that their actions are aimed at protecting the family’s wealth. In light of their father’s deteriorating health and the influence of his new wife, they deemed it necessary to take legal action to safeguard the family assets.
Zygmunt Solorz, in a letter to employees of Polsat Plus Group, pointed out that his children’s involvement in the management of the companies had not yielded the expected results, which is why he decided to dismiss them.
Piotr Żak’s legal representatives also filed a lawsuit with the District Court in Poznań concerning the dismissal of his sons from ZE PAK’s supervisory board. The lawsuit seeks to establish the non-existence, or potentially the invalidity, of the resolutions that led to their dismissal.
