On November 20, 2024, officers of the Internal Security Agency (ABW) detained a German citizen in the Lubuskie province. The man was accused of facilitating and exporting dual-use goods to the territory of the Russian Federation, which violates Polish law regarding trade in goods of strategic importance.
The investigation, conducted under the supervision of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Gorzów Wielkopolski, revealed that the German citizen was involved in a commercial activity that violated the legislation from November 29, 2000, on foreign trade in goods, technologies, and services of strategic significance for both the state’s security and international peace and safety.
The suspect, through his company, was trading specialized machines used in the technology industry. These goods, contrary to the law, ended up at Russian military factories engaged in weapons production. Such activities violate international laws and may contribute to the destabilization of the geopolitical situation, particularly in the context of current sanctions imposed on Russia by the European Union and other countries.
The German citizen admitted to the charges and submitted a request for voluntary submission to punishment. This is a procedure that allows for a shortened legal process and the imposition of an agreed penalty in exchange for admitting guilt.
