In July 2024, compared to July 2023, banks granted fewer loans to micro-entrepreneurs (-5.8%) and for a lower value (-4.2%).

Sale of loans for micro-entrepreneurs according to credit products

In July of this year, banks granted fewer of all types of loans: investment loans (-35.4%), loans in the current account (-14.2%), and operational loans (-7.3%). In terms of value, negative annual dynamics were observed in two types of loans: current account loans (-15.1%) and operational loans (-13.8%). However, investment loans show a high positive dynamic (+21.6%).

In the first seven months of 2024 compared with the corresponding period last year, banks granted fewer loans to micro-entrepreneurs (-0.3%), but for a higher amount (+3.3%). Positive dynamics in both number (+0.8%) and value (+1.5%) were solely observed in operating loans during this period. Investment and current account loans displayed a negative dynamic in number, respectively (-25.9%) and (-10.6%). However, investment loans showed a positive dynamic (+18.7%) in value. Similarly, in value, negative dynamics were characteristic of current account loans (-8.9%).

Quality of Credit Portfolios for micro-entrepreneurs according to credit products

The July reading of the BIK Quality Index for micro-entrepreneur loans stood at 5.47% in value terms. It therefore remains at a safe, acceptable level. The July 2024 product quality indices were as follows, in value terms: investment loans 2.69%, current account loans 4.75%, and operating loans 8.85%.

In July 2024, compared to June 2024, the overall quality index improved (fell) by (-0.41). Over a 12-month period, i.e., compared to July 2023, the general Quality Index also improved (fell) by (-1.11).

Over a 12-month period, the Index for operating loans improved the most (fell) (-3.00). The index for current account loans (-0.27) and investment loans (-0.15) also improved.

Sale of loans for micro-entrepreneurs according to industries

Of the 12.1k loans granted to micro-entrepreneurs in July, 6.1k were taken by service companies (50.7%) and 2.6k by trading businesses (21.9%). These two sectors accounted for 72.6% of all loans granted in July 2024.

Of the total 1.793 billion PLN, banks granted 687 million PLN (38.3%) to service micro-entrepreneurs and 432 million PLN (24.1%) to trading businesses. Funding for these two sectors in July 2024 amounted to 62.4% of the total value of the loans granted to micro-entrepreneurs.

In July 2024, the negative year-over-year dynamics in the number of granted loans affected all four industries: trade (-12.0%), construction (-9.0%), production (-7.4%), and services (-1.8%). Positive dynamics were observed for loans to companies in two industries: production (+4.9%) and construction (+1.9%). Trading (-19.1%) and service companies (-1.8%) marked negative dynamics.

In the first seven months of this year, compared to the corresponding period last year, positive dynamics in the number of issued loans were only found in the service industry (+2.4%). In other industries, the dynamics were negative – the highest in the trade (-3.9%). Against this backdrop, the dynamics fared very well in value terms – in all industries, it was positive, highest in the service sector (+9.3%).

Quality of Credit Portfolios for micro-entrepreneurs according to industries

According to the Quality Index readings, the worst (highest level of the indicator) loan repayments in July 2024 were made by production companies – at 7.08% and construction at 6.07%. The best (lowest) reading in July was observed in the Quality Index of service sector companies and it stood at 5.04%.

Compared to July 2023, the Index improved (fell) in three sectors: the most in services (-1.94) and trade (-1.31). It increased (worsened) by (+1.24) in the production sector.
