The ORLEN Group has launched a technological line in Litvinov, Czech Republic, which will increase the production of dust-free stabilizing compounds sevenfold. These compounds are used in the production of polyethylene and polypropylene. The investment, worth nearly 40 million PLN, will enable the production of approximately 3,000 tons of specialized compounds annually.
The new installation will allow the multi-energy conglomerate to fully meet its own raw material needs, ensuring independence from external suppliers.
The ORLEN Group is a producer of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and polypropylene (PP). The project for producing dust-free stabilizing compounds in Litvinov was developed in cooperation with the ORLEN Polymer Institute Brno research and development center. This institution focuses on developing specialized additive formulations used in the production of plastic products.
The dust-free compounds are used in HDPE LITEN and PP MOSTEN products. Thanks to its chemical resistance, HDPE LITEN can be used for the production of industrial components and structural elements. PP MOSTEN, on the other hand, is abrasion-resistant, making it suitable for use in the automotive industry, among others.
In 2022, the ORLEN Unipetrol plant in Litvinov received certification enabling petrochemical production using hydrogenated vegetable oils (HVO), which partially replace crude oil with an alternative plant-based raw material.
ORLEN Unipetrol is involved in oil refining, as well as the production, distribution, and sale of fuels and petrochemical products, particularly plastics and fertilizers, in the Czech Republic and Central Europe. The Unipetrol Group includes refineries and production plants in Litvinov and Kralupy, the Benzina gas station network, and research centers.
