On March 27, 2024, the Polish Financial Supervision Authority (KNF) approved the appointment of Tomasz Bardziłowski as the President of the Management Board of the Warsaw Stock Exchange (GPW). The decision to appoint Tomasz Bardziłowski was made on February 5, 2024, by the Extraordinary General Meeting of the GPW. On March 29, 2024, the proxy of the GPW’s General Meeting, attorney Tomasz Walkiewicz, received on behalf of the Company the KNF’s decision granting consent for changes in the Exchange’s Management Board composition. This means that Tomasz Bardziłowski formally begins his role as the President of the Management Board of the Warsaw Stock Exchange today.
The Financial Supervision Authority unanimously consented to Tomasz Bardziłowski’s appointment during its meeting on March 27, 2024. After receiving the required approval from the Financial Supervision Authority, Tomasz Bardziłowski assumes the position of the President of the Management Board of the GPW. The decision came into effect on March 29, 2024, the day the company received the Financial Supervision Authority’s decision regarding the approval of the change in the Management Board’s composition.
The resolution to appoint Tomasz Bardziłowski as the President of the Management Board of the GPW was made by the GPW’s Extraordinary General Meeting on February 5, 2024. The decision was made by a majority vote upon the proposal of the State Treasury, which represents 35.01 percent of the company’s share capital.
Tomasz Bardziłowski graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from the Faculty of Finance and Banking at SGH and earned a Master’s degree in International Finance from the University of Amsterdam. He completed doctoral studies at the Kozminski University, the Advanced Management Program at IESE Business School, and the Program for Leadership Development at Harvard Business School. He also studied at Staffordshire University Business School in the UK and Wirtschaftsuniversität in Vienna.
Bardziłowski began his professional career in 1997 at the brokerage house ABN AMRO in Warsaw. Between 1998 and 2003, he worked at Credit Suisse First Boston as an analyst for the Polish market. From 2003 to 2005, he was the head of the institutional sales department at DM BZ WBK (now Santander), and from 2005 to 2006, he was the President of the Management Board at CAIB Securities. Between 2006 and 2010, he held the positions of Head of Emerging Europe Equity Research and Head of CEE Equities at UniCredit CAIB. From 2010 to 2012, he was the Managing Director and head of the Polish branch of Credit Suisse Securities. From 2012 to 2018, he held the positions of Board Member and head of the Public Market Department at Vestor Brokerage House (formerly DI Investors). From February 2019, he was the Managing Director in the Capital Markets Department and Advisor to the Management Board of IPOPEMA Securities. Between 2014 and 2016, he was a capital markets expert at the Civil Development Forum.
Tomasz Bardziłowski has been repeatedly awarded as the best analyst for the CEE market, including in the Institutional Investors ranking. In 2005, he was recognized as “Analyst of the Year” by the Parkiet newspaper, and in 2006, in the same competition, he was recognized as the best stock market strategist. He is a licensed stockbroker (license number 2110) and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) title, which he obtained in 2000.
