Scanway signs contract with Flytronic S.A.

COMPANIESScanway signs contract with Flytronic S.A.

The agreement concluded on November 8 with Flytronic (part of WB Group) – a leading Polish entity in the unmanned platform production market – formalizes a previously signed letter of intent in August. As part of the cooperation, Scanway will develop components for the observer turret. Alongside the PIAST space project and the cooperation agreement with ICEYE, this is another key step in building Scanway’s position in the large and promising defense market.

After designing, delivering, and successfully testing a solution that utilizes Scanway’s competencies, Flytronic declares its desire to initiate business discussions and negotiations to implement the product in the solutions it offers. This company, part of the WB Group, designs and manufactures unmanned aerial systems (including X-FRONTER, FLYEYE and FT-5), which have proven themselves under the most challenging conditions, including intense conflict scenarios.

“The actions we have announced to enter the promising market associated with defense products have brought results. The agreement with Flytronic S.A. is entry into a stage of close cooperation with a leading player in this sector and the possibility of real influence on building the competitiveness of the Polish defense sector on the international arena. The aim is to give domestic and allied entities an advantage on the global arena of armed conflicts. The competence we have developed over 8 years in observational technology for the space industry and machine vision for the manufacturing industry, provides an excellent foundation for creating a product significantly increasing the functionality and imaging possibilities of unmanned systems,” commented Jędrzej Kowalewski, CEO of Scanway S.A.

He added that they have fully secured financial resources for R&D under the agreement with Flytronic S.A., funded by the success of their public offer completed a few weeks ago. The work schedule has been set for 24 months, but informal discussions about further commercialization of optoelectronic components, including serial production, may start earlier.

Flytronic S.A. is a leading Polish center developing and producing unmanned aerial platforms. The R&D work in electronics, computer science, and aeronautical mechanics distinguishes the company on a global scale.

“The purpose of the agreement is to develop a prototype of an optoelectronic sensor, enabling advanced imaging from unmanned platforms. A period of intense R&D is ahead of us before we begin the first device tests, but we are confident that we will deliver a product that meets all requirements. The result will enhance the imaging capabilities of future air unmanned platforms, which are gaining increasing popularity and recognition in the defense sector at the national and international level,” said Mikołaj Podgórski, COO and co-founder of Scanway.

The project schedule has been set for 24 months and will include phases: concept study, product development, solution integration, implementation, and flight tests. Scanway will be responsible for managing the implementation of the contract, including coordinating engineering and design activities, as well as preparing reports. Flytronic will provide and make available the necessary prerequisites for the implementation of the contract, support and a team testing solutions. Scanway will be the sole owner of the intellectual property rights to the developed sensor.

The WB Group is one of the largest Polish advanced technology corporations specialized in designing and producing solutions in the defense and civilian sectors. The Group offers a comprehensive range of services in communication systems, unmanned air, land and sea systems, and modern combat management systems. Thanks to its advanced R&D infrastructure, WB Group introduces innovative products that meet the highest standards of quality and reliability.
