OX2 has handed over to DIF Capital Partners the Grajewo wind farm and the Sulmierzyce wind farm for operation. The cumulative installed power of the projects is 64.5 MW.
In Grajewo, in the Podlaskie region, 12 wind turbines were built with a total power of 41.4 MW, which will annually produce about 130.6 GWh of energy. Assuming an average annual energy consumption by a household of about 3,500 kWh – the entire farm will be able to annually power even up to 40,000 homes.
The Sulmierzyce wind farm, located in the Wielkopolska region, consists of 7 wind turbines with a total power of 23.1 MW. The average annual energy production from the farm will be about 67.6 GWh, which will allow almost 21,000 households to be powered annually.
“We are pleased to announce that we have commissioned two more wind farms in Poland. Poland is a market with high potential for renewable energy, and we are already planning further projects. Cooperation with DIF Capital Partners is another step towards expanding our investment activities and towards reducing the climate footprint far beyond our own consumption,” says Paul Stormoen, CEO, OX2.
“The Grajewo and Sulmierzyce wind farms are another step by OX2 towards supporting energy transformation and decarbonization in Poland. They contribute to increasing the share of renewable energy in the country’s energy mix and reducing the country’s dependence on fossil fuel-based energy production,” says Katarzyna Suchcicka, Managing Director of OX2 in Poland.
In the regions where the company OX2 carries out investment activities, it also gets involved in supporting local communities and infrastructure development. In relation to the connection to the network operator PGE Dystrybucja in Białystok of the Grajewo Wind Farm, the GPZ (Main Supply Point) Grajewo – Popowo Station was modernized. As a result, Grajewo can boast one of the largest and most advanced energy investments in northeastern Poland. The new GPZ 110/15 kV GIS Grajewo 2 station will serve the community and economic entities of the region for the next years, contributing to its further development.
During the construction of the Grajewo Wind Farm, OX2 also built 4.5 km of access roads to wind turbines, renovated 3.8 km of existing municipal roads, and strengthened a county road leading to the village of Boczki-Świdrowo, covering a total length of nearly 1.4 km. OX2 also financed the modernization of the computer lab at Zespół Szkół Nr 2 in Grajewo.
During the construction of the Sulmierzyce wind farm, OX2 actively participated in the life of the municipality and local community, supporting sports, social and ecological initiatives. Thanks to OX2’s engagement in Sulmierzyce, a playground for children was built, among other things.
OX2 is currently implementing three other wind project constructions – Wysoka, Kraśnik and Bejsce farms, and is preparing for the construction of further wind, photovoltaic and energy storage investment. In Decemeber, OX2 commissioned the Juniewicze wind farm. The company built a strong portfolio of projects in Poland in three technologies with a total power of about 2.9 GW. The portfolio of wind projects has over 850 MW of power, solar over 5 GW and energy storage – nearly 540 MW.
