IT and new technology organisations are looking with recruitment optimism at the final months of this year. From October to the end of December, 47% of companies in this sector plan to hire new employees, while 20% of employers anticipate reducing their workforce, and 31% do not foresee changes to their teams. These figures come from the report “ManpowerGroup Employment Outlook Barometer”, in which companies disclose their recruitment plans for the fourth quarter of 2024.
The analysis presented by ManpowerGroup suggests that IT firms are optimistic about the fourth quarter of 2024. The net employment Outlook, which serves as a barometer of the labor market and shows companies’ plans related to hiring new staff, is +27%, indicating that the new technologies sector has one of the highest recruitment appetites amongst all 8 analysed sectors. This index increased by 11 percentage points compared to the same period last year and is also 5 percentage points higher when looking at data quarter-to-quarter.
“The employment prospects for the last quarter of this year for IT are positive. The data place the industry alongside transport, logistics & automotive and consumer goods & services, among the three sectors with the highest predicted growth,” says Justyna Mazur, labour market expert and recruitment manager at Experis. “The current increase in employment forecasts suggests that IT companies are now better prepared for future challenges, seeing increased demand for their products and services. Reinvestment in new technologies, artificial intelligence, cloud computing and importantly the cybersecurity further stimulates this growth. We notice a higher number of recruitment processes than in previous months,” adds labor market expert.
According to Justyna Mazur, the analysis shows that the Polish IT industry maintains dynamic growth despite changing economic conditions. Almost half of the companies in this sector plan to increase employment, confirming that the market is driven by a growing demand for digital services, technological innovations as well as process transformation and automation. Percentage of predicted layoffs may be the effect of restructuring, cost optimization, or changing business priorities. But let’s not forget that this is a phenomenon usually accompanying rapid development, where continuous change, adaptation to a dynamic environment is a prerequisite,” emphasizes the Experis expert.
According to Job Market Insights data, from July to mid-September of this year, over 68,000 job offers for IT and telecommunication specialists appeared online in Poland. DevOps Engineers, Java developers, and Data Engineers were the most sought-after professionals. Most of the job offers were located in Warsaw, Krakow, and Wroclaw.
“Observing the IT job market situation, the areas most active in recent months will continue to show increasing demand for specialists, they are artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), cloud computing, cybersecurity, software development, and data analytics,” says Justyna Mazur. “Therefore, the most in-demand candidates will still be AI/ML engineers, DevOps engineers, IT security specialists, experienced developers, analysts, and data engineers. In terms of experience level, employers most often look for mid-level and experienced workers, especially those who can manage complex projects and possess unique technical competencies, “summarizes Justyna Mazur.
The ManpowerGroup report also presents data related to the recruitment plans of organisations in the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region. It shows that employers in the new technologies sector predict a net employment outlook of +31% for the fourth quarter of this year. From October to the end of December, 45% of organisations plan to ramp up their recruitment efforts, 14% consider the need to reduce employment, and only 1% of organisations do not know their recruitment plans for the upcoming months. On the other hand, 40% of IT industry employers in the EMEA region want to keep employment at its current level.
