INNO-GENE Expands into Green Hydrogen and E-Methanol Production with Acquisition of Hydrogenium

COMPANIESINNO-GENE Expands into Green Hydrogen and E-Methanol Production with Acquisition of Hydrogenium

Inno-Gene S.A., a group listed on NewConnect and operating in the fields of genetic diagnostics and bioinformatics, has announced an expansion of its business profile. The company will venture into the production of green hydrogen and e-methanol, based on the unique technology of a new company within the capital group.

INNO-GENE S.A.’s Management Board informed about the completion of the strategic options review process. The company analyzed potential scenarios for the further development of the Capital Group and the prospects of individual business segments. The outcome of these analyses was the decision to expand the Capital Group’s operations to include the technology for the production of green hydrogen and e-methanol. The company announced the signing of an investment agreement with Hydrogenium Prosta Spółka Akcyjna based in Lublin, Poland (“HYDROGENIUM”).

According to the contents of the signed agreement, INNO-GENE S.A. will take over 155,800 shares of HYDROGENIUM, which make up 76% of HYDROGENIUM’s share capital in exchange for 28,496,800 series H bearer shares issued by INNO-GENE S.A. After the registration of the New Issue Shares, these will constitute 82.13% of the company’s share capital and the total number of votes at the General Meeting of the company.

With the acquisition of HYDROGENIUM, the current activities of the Capital Group’s Issuer will be expanded to include hydrogen, e-methanol, and carbon dioxide production based on plasma biomass gasification technology.

HYDROGENIUM is a technology company, owner of IP technology for biomass gasification in a plasma environment, which has been researched and analyzed for over 20 years. During this time, a solution was developed enabling very high conversion of biomass into synthesis gas, which can be used for the production of green hydrogen or e-methanol.

“We see a green revolution in the industry, similar to what happened in genetics a few decades ago. We want to actively participate in this green energy transformation and seize the opportunity based on innovative technologies. I am particularly pleased that we have attracted partners from Hydrogenium PSA with extensive experience in this segment and their IP. This is extremely important for us and will certainly meet with the acceptance and satisfaction of our shareholders,” said Jacek Wojciechowicz, President of INNO-GENE S.A.

“We see a huge potential in biomass, which is gaining importance with the development of energy transformation and the need to increase the share of renewable energy sources in the energy structure. We currently have our own unique technology, which will soon be subject to global patent protection. Our biomass gasification technology has a number of key competitive advantages and very good economic parameters, which we will soon present by creating our own pilot line,” says Maciej Ganczarski, Managing Partner of Hydrogenium P.S.A.

The breakthrough technology allows for economical and mass production of hydrogen from a wide spectrum of different types of biomass or waste. The produced synthesis gas can be transformed into methanol or other e-fuels or used in the production of green substrates for the chemical industry, further enhancing the versatility of this innovative technology.

Currently, HYDROGENIUM, along with the Institute of Gas of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in Kiev, is working on creating a pilot installation (with a capacity of 100kg of biomass/hour) for biomass processing. Earlier studies conducted by the Institute of Gas of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in Kiev showed high efficiency in obtaining hydrogen in the biomass gasification process with a cost of 1-2 Euros/kg of produced hydrogen. The demonstrator’s launch on the HYDROGENIUM research center site is planned for the first quarter of 2025.
