Inbank teams up with the European Investment Bank Group (EIB) to accelerate green transformation in Poland. Thanks to the signed agreement, Inbank will gain access to capital that will enable further expansion of its green loan portfolio, and thousands of Poles will have the opportunity to finance installations of photovoltaic panels, energy storage units, and heat pumps beneficially. Over the next three years, Inbank commits to providing financing exceeding PLN 700 million. This is the first agreement of this type signed by a bank operating in Poland and the European Investment Bank Group where the end beneficiaries are individual clients – natural persons.
Supporting green transformation in Poland
According to the agreement, Inbank commits to granting over PLN 700 million new loans for private individuals in Poland over the next three years – for the purchase and installation of solar panels, energy storage systems and heat pumps for households. The bank estimates that projects carried out in cooperation with the European Investment Bank and the European Investment Fund may generate even 104 GWh of renewable energy per year. This will contribute to the reduction of CO2 emission, improvement of air quality, support of climate change mitigation, and to achieving the RepowerEU objectives – the EU program aimed at increasing the autonomy of European Union countries in the energy sector by diversifying energy supplies and accelerating green transformation.
Simple, green financing for Polish households
Individuals planning to install photovoltaic panels, energy storage units, or heat pumps in their homes, wishing to reduce both energy costs and carbon footprint, will be able to apply for the loan. The maximum loan amount that can be applied for will be PLN 150 thousand – for a period of up to 10 years.
Inbank will offer an interest rate at least 0.25% lower than the standard rates for EIB-guaranteed loans and will also strive to provide increasingly competitive prices for this crucial customer group. This makes financing not only more accessible but also a more attractive alternative to traditional cash loans.
What further distinguishes Inbank’s offer is the simplicity of the application process and the ease of obtaining financing. All formalities can be handled through a network of over 200 nationwide partners of Inbank – companies specializing in the distribution and installation of renewable energy solutions. Loan applications can be submitted starting from this December.
Inbank in Poland – a specialist in financing RES and prosumers
It’s worth mentioning that so far, Inbank has granted consumer loans exceeding PLN 5 billion in Poland. The current credit portfolio of the bank amounts to over PLN 2 billion, of which a significant part pertains to financing RES projects implemented by individual clients – prosumers. To date, Inbank has granted over 80 thousand loans for the installation of solar panels, energy storage systems, and heat pumps. Inbank has been financing the development of RES in the household segment since 2019.
Details of the agreement and transaction structure
The agreement between Inbank and the EIB Group is the first so-called synthetic securitization secured with an amount of PLN 635 million in the form of loans for solar panels for private individuals in Poland. The European Investment Bank Group has provided a guarantee for the total amount of PLN 625 million. The key elements of the structure of this transaction are as follows:
– The European Investment Fund (EIF) provides protection for the least risky privileged tranche valued over PLN 549 million, half of which is covered by the EIB’s return guarantee;
– The EIF also provides security of over PLN 76 million for the more risky mezzanine-type tranche, which is supported by the European Commission’s guarantee under the InvestEU program;
– The most risky subordinate tranche of around PLN 10 million remains in Inbank’s portfolio.
Maciej Pieczkowski, Member of the Management Board of Inbank, Director of Central and Eastern Europe Business, comments:
“Thanks to the partnership with the European Investment Bank Group, we are extending our support for green energy initiatives in Poland. The securitization agreement enables us to provide more accessible financing options for Polish households who want to reduce both energy costs and carbon footprint. Thanks to the support of the European Investment Bank, this transaction will lower loan costs for our clients, Poland is experiencing significant growth in demand for renewable energy solutions, driven by rising energy costs and growing environmental awareness. The popularity of these installations underscores the strong commitment of Polish consumers to transition to sustainable energy sources, and we are proud to be able to support and contribute to this movement.”

Thanks to cooperation with Inbank, we can reach private individuals and enable them to make the most of the green transformation.
