GLS initiates collaboration with Lidl. It’s now possible to pick up GLS parcels and send returns at over 900 popular supermarkets. The partnership with Lidl is thus far the largest collaboration GLS has with a retail network in Poland.
The increase in GLS points is a nod to customers who gain convenient access to courier services at their daily shopping locations. Packages can be dispatched and collected during Lidl’s store opening hours. To do so, you must go to the store employee located in the self-checkout area. The system supports pickups and shipments through returns, i.e., the ShopReturnService. Sending is free for both domestic and foreign packages – covering 24 countries in Europe, including, among others, Spain, Germany and Italy.
“The partnership with Lidl primarily enables our customers to comfortably collect and send parcels while doing their daily shopping, thus saving them valuable time. For GLS, this is another step in developing the OOH (out of home) delivery network and considering GLS ParcelShop points. Such a solution also reduces CO2 emissions, which is an element of our sustainable development strategy,” emphasizes Sebastian Mazurowski, Head of GLS ParcelShop Network Development.
The pilot program conducted in the recently opened 16 Lidl branches has progressed according to both companies’ accepted standards and received positive feedback from customers. The technological implementation of the project is supported by Pointpack integrator.
Currently, given the Lidl network, there are already 7,000 GLS ParcelShop points in Poland.
