The Czech company Columbus Energy a.s. has won the tender for the supply and installation of photovoltaic installations for the city of Brno.
Columbus Energy a.s. has signed a contract for the supply and installation of photovoltaic installations on the roofs of buildings belonging to the city of Brno. The Czech company was among three entities selected by the city authorities in the announced tender. The total maximum value of the investment is 2.2 billion Czech crowns, equivalent to almost PLN 390 million.
“We are pleased that the many years of experience of Columbus, as well as the established position of the Group on the Czech market, have allowed us not only to participate in the tender, but also to qualify as the only supplier of photovoltaic systems that formally did not require the creation of a consortium and could successfully start on its own. We feel that winning the tender represents an excellent opportunity to accelerate Columbus’ expansion in the Czech market. It is a great satisfaction that we have met all procedural requirements and we can present our implementation capabilities in such an interesting and significant project. Our know-how and many years of experience from the Polish market – as we have already found out in other investments – are respected in the Czech Republic, so we aim to implement as many orders as possible. And the potential of this project is really big, as 675 buildings in total need to be equipped with photovoltaics. We estimate that Columbus will perform about ⅓ of the contract” – said Michał Gondek, Vice President of Columbus Energy S.A., and President of the Board of Columbus Energy a.s.
– “Year 2023 is a new opening of the renewable energy market in the B2B and B2C sectors in the Czech Republic, as shown by the sales results of Columbus Energy a.s. as a leader in this market. We are glad that the beginning of this year resulted in the signing of such an important contract. It is all the more prestigious for us that it concerns public utility buildings for the city of Brno” – comments Arleta Czekaj-Kwiecień, Sales Strategy Director at Columbus Energy a.s.
“We are very grateful to be one of the suppliers of photovoltaics for municipal buildings in Brno. This is a great opportunity and obligation for us. It is also another step in the implementation of our strategy, which will help us in further development of Columbus Energy’s activities in the Czech Republic” – points out Simona Labudová, Managing Director of Columbus Energy a.s.
Let’s remind that the expansion of Columbus in the prosumer market in the Czech Republic began at the end of 2022. In May 2023, Columbus Energy bought shares in subsidiaries in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, and decided to increase operational activity in investment, B2B and B2G segments.
