ENERGYA 52 MW photovoltaic farm will be established in the Działoszyn commune - one of the largest renewable energy investments in the Łódź province

A 52 MW photovoltaic farm will be established in the commune of Działoszyn in the Łódź province. The investment covering an area of 65 hectares will be one of the largest in the region. The project is being carried out by Varitex, a Łódź-based company that has been operating in the investment and real estate market for over 35 years.

It’s the largest photovoltaic project we’ve ever undertaken. The investment area is equivalent to 90 football pitches, and the completed installation will consist of over 85 thousand panels – said Katarzyna Król-Domańska, manager of the renewable energy projects department at Varitex – The energy generated by them will allow for the annual supply of almost 26 thousand households.

The farm from the Działoszyn commune will be connected via a GPO station (known as the main collection point) to the GPZ Trębaczew station. This will enable power supply to both homes and industry throughout the province. Thanks to the investment, it will be possible to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by over 40 thousand tons per year. This amount is generated by around 10 thousand cars during the same period.

The investment has already obtained conditions for connection to the power grid. It is currently at the stage of preparing the construction project and obtaining a building permit. The construction itself should be completed within a few years. The biggest risk facing the investor is the increasingly frequent power outages ordered by the Polish Power Grids (PSE).

These outages are caused by the terrible condition of the transmission lines. This year alone, PSE has several times halted the operation of photovoltaic power stations, mainly large-scale and industrial installations. The shutdowns have occurred during the periods of the most beneficial insolation, which has limited the energy production from these sources by almost 350 GWh by mid-May. Consequently, Varitex’s project envisages the possibility of implementing solutions in the future aimed at reducing the investment’s dependence on the grid. This would mainly be achieved through the installation of energy storage systems.
