What Do Lawyers Earn in 2025? Legal Sector Shifts Toward Tech-Savvy Strategists

CAREERSWhat Do Lawyers Earn in 2025? Legal Sector Shifts Toward Tech-Savvy Strategists

In today’s legal market, it’s no longer just about knowing the law—tech and business acumen are becoming just as important. Companies are increasingly looking for legal professionals who can act as strategic partners, understand the broader business environment, and contribute to organizational growth. Those who can combine legal expertise with future-oriented skills are not only more effective—they also command significantly higher salaries. Among expert positions, the highest earners are legal specialists (PLN 11,000–18,000 gross) and compliance officers (PLN 10,000–16,000 gross). At the management level, legal department directors can earn between PLN 30,000 and 50,000 gross monthly.

The Modern Lawyer: Expert, Strategist, and Business Partner

In recent years, the legal profession has faced no shortage of challenges. Rapid regulatory changes have fueled growing demand for both external legal services and in-house experts. Job market forecasts suggest continued growth in legal hiring in the months ahead, particularly due to upcoming reforms in labor law and foreign employment regulations. Legal professionals with expertise in ESG, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity will be especially sought after. Increasingly, legal departments are looking for lawyers who not only master legal codes but also act as proactive business advisors.

A Shift in Priorities Among Young Lawyers

Young lawyers are becoming more open to career changes. While salary remains important, it is no longer the only factor. Career development opportunities, new challenges, and company culture are becoming just as important. There is also growing demand for workplaces that support well-being and work-life balance.

“Flexible working models remain important—most legal professionals work in hybrid formats with a preference for on-site work,” says Adrianna Wiśniewska, Recruitment Business Partner at Manpower. “Candidates are also looking at technological innovations that improve processes, such as reporting tools. The most common reasons for changing employers include lack of new challenges, rigid structures with limited promotion opportunities, and chronic overwork resulting from poor work-life balance.”

Legal professionals can expect earnings in 2025 to remain largely consistent with 2024 levels. Due to upcoming regulations mandating salary transparency, employers are approaching raises cautiously this year. One exception is roles that require highly specialized expertise, where talent is harder to find.

Among expert positions, legal specialists earn PLN 11,000–18,000 gross monthly, while more senior professionals can command between PLN 15,000 and 25,000 gross. Compliance officers earn between PLN 12,000 and 16,000 gross. At the management level, heads of legal departments top the chart with monthly salaries ranging from PLN 30,000 to 50,000 gross.

It’s worth noting, however, that many legal professionals work under B2B contracts rather than traditional employment agreements. In such cases, salary figures are typically presented as net amounts plus VAT, rather than standard gross employment wages.
