The Best-Paying University Degrees in Poland

CAREERSThe Best-Paying University Degrees in Poland

There are university programmes in Poland that allow young specialists to earn salaries several times higher than the national average. According to data from Statistics Poland (GUS), the average salary in the enterprise sector in August 2025 amounted to 8,769.08 PLN gross. Meanwhile, graduates of the most popular technology programmes enter the job market with salaries of 13,000–17,000 PLN gross, and just a few years later, as AI specialists, Data Engineers or SAP consultants, they reach 25,000–31,000 PLN per month.

Data from the national system monitoring the Economic Fate of Graduates (ELA)[1] and the latest IT Salary Report 2025 by Devire[2] point clearly to one conclusion: the most profitable fields of study are those that respond to the fastest-growing technological needs of companies. According to ELA, the highest-earning young graduates are IT specialists from top technical universities. Examples include: Computer Science at Warsaw University of Technology (16,956 PLN gross), Applied Computer Science at WUT (14,918 PLN), Computer Science at the University of Warsaw (14,025 PLN), Data Science at AGH University of Science and Technology (13,140 PLN), and Computer Science at Jagiellonian University (13,663 PLN).

The advantage of these programmes becomes even more apparent when compared with real salary ranges in the labour market. According to Devire’s 2025 IT Salary Report, mid- and senior-level roles earn the following:
Data Engineer: 15–25k PLN (mid), 26–31k PLN (senior)
AI/ML Engineer: 17–20k PLN (mid), 21–29k PLN (senior)
Python Developer: up to 28k PLN (senior)
Full-stack Developer: up to 28k PLN (senior)

The market is clearly maturing – salary increases have slowed to 5–7% annually, but skills in AI, data analytics, and software engineering remain among the most future-proof.

“In Q1 2025, the value of technological projects in Poland reached 686 million euros, up 64% year-on-year. This growth is driven by factors such as the rising importance of AI in business processes, demand for cybersecurity specialists, modernisation of ERP and CRM systems, and the expansion of Polish R&D centres. Even with the slowdown in wage growth, the IT sector is still one of the most absorbent segments of the economy,” says Mikołaj Makowski, Managing Director at the recruitment agency Devire.

Specialisations companies need most today

The biggest surprises in the IT market come not from programmers, but from consultants and specialists in business applications. According to Devire’s latest salary report, contract salaries for SAP Consultants increased by 12% year-on-year, Microsoft Dynamics Consultants by 6%, and Salesforce seniors recorded the highest increases among full-time employees. For example:

SAP Functional Consultant (senior): 22–30k PLN
ABAP Developer: 10–30k PLN (from junior to senior)

Devire experts have no doubt: this is an area that will grow even faster, driven by the global migration to SAP S/4HANA and the development of the Dynamics and Salesforce ecosystems. Cybersecurity is not slowing down either — Cloud Security and IAM remain among the most competitive segments in terms of pay.

Technical engineers still earning high salaries: mining, geotechnics, energy

Interestingly, ELA data also show high salaries in technical fields outside IT:

• Mining and Geology – Silesian University of Technology: 14,214 PLN
• Mining and Geology – Wrocław University of Science and Technology: 14,185 PLN
• Computational Engineering – University of Warsaw: 13,000 PLN
• Geoinformatics – AGH University of Science and Technology: 11,361 PLN

This signals that demand for highly specialised engineers — particularly in raw materials and energy — remains stable, and technical skills continue to be among the most valued on the market.

A strong market for medical graduates

One of the biggest surprises in the ELA ranking is medical programmes. Salaries of nursing graduates exceed 14,000 PLN gross already in the first years of work. Midwifery and Public Health also rank among the best-paid practical fields. A shortage of staff directly translates into rapid wage growth.

“Data from ELA and the labour market clearly show that specialised skills are the defining trend today. Across industries, companies are looking for people who understand technology, know how to work with data, and can develop advanced areas of their profession. These are exactly the skills — whether in IT, mining, energy, or healthcare — that guarantee the strongest start to a career. Graduates who choose specialisation early on will have the most opportunities in the coming years,” summarises Mikołaj Makowski from Devire.
