Strategic Contracts for B-Act in Ukraine: Polish Company Involved in Post-Disaster Reconstruction After Nova Kakhovka Dam Collapse

COMPANIESStrategic Contracts for B-Act in Ukraine: Polish Company Involved in Post-Disaster Reconstruction After Nova Kakhovka Dam Collapse

B-Act, a consulting and engineering company listed on NewConnect, has signed agreements to provide engineering and consulting services for three key investment projects linked to mitigating the aftermath of the destruction of the Nova Kakhovka dam on the Dnipro River in Ukraine. Under the agreements, the company will be involved in the construction of a water intake from the Pivdenny Buh River in the town of Nova Odesa (Mykolaiv Oblast) and a water pipeline for the regional capital city of Mykolaiv (which had nearly half a million residents before the war). The total value of the three contracts amounts to PLN 2.8 million gross. Last year, B-Act signed eight new contracts for projects in Ukraine.

The contracts signed by B-Act are part of efforts to address the aftermath of one of Europe’s largest hydroengineering disasters — the destruction of the Nova Kakhovka dam on the Dnipro River in June 2023. Estimates from the Ukrainian government suggest that the damages from the disaster amount to around USD 14 billion. One of the key strategic challenges is the water supply for Mykolaiv, which previously depended on a pipeline connecting it to the Dnipro. This main artery was damaged early in the full-scale war.

“The contracts are strategic from a civil engineering perspective. The project in Mykolaiv is existential for the city, which, as a regional center, has been without access to piped water for three years,” emphasizes Adam BiaƂachowski, President of B-Act. “Ukraine is an important area of our strategy. The country continues to need specialized support and competent companies. We have extensive experience in hydroengineering projects, gained both in Poland and abroad, for example, in Romania during the renovation of water supply networks, sewage systems, and wastewater treatment plants in the agglomerations of Vaslui, BĂąrlad, Huși, and Negrești. Another contract in Ukraine further strengthens our position as an important player on the international stage,” he adds.

The value of the new contracts amounts to PLN 2.8 million gross. Since September 2024, B-Act has held the status of a critical enterprise for the Ukrainian economy. Obtaining this status ensures operational continuity and the availability of the company’s team on the ground.

“The uniqueness of this project lies in the tight deadlines, the use of a ‘design and build’ formula, and the necessity for close cooperation with other participants in the initiative. The water supply system consists of three sections with a total length of 67.8 km. The route includes three pumping stations equipped with high-capacity pump units ranging from 640 to 800 kW. The pipeline runs outside built-up areas or along their outskirts, preserving existing infrastructure and allowing for quicker, smoother completion of works without unnecessary disruption to local residents,” adds Yurii Sereda, Director of B-Act’s Representative Office in Ukraine.

Last year, B-Act strengthened its presence in Ukraine, where it has been operating since 2017 and currently manages five offices. The company now has a total of 19 contracts in the Ukrainian market.

“The ‘small reconstruction’ of Ukraine is a process that remains active on many fronts. It’s important to emphasize that we have truly unique experience from numerous projects in Ukraine, and cooperation with international partners like Sweco enhances our credibility with foreign partners,” notes Adam BiaƂachowski.

In 2025, the company plans to place even greater emphasis on securing international contracts. This strategy is reflected, among other things, in B-Act’s recent membership in the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC), the leading voice of the U.S. engineering industry. ACEC represents nearly 6,000 firms employing more than 600,000 engineers.
