Selena Group has maintained stable financial performance, recording an operating profit (EBIT) of €19.6 million in the first half of 2025, representing an 18.6% increase compared to the same period last year. The results confirm the validity of the company’s development goals and management directions, despite the continued volatility of the market environment.
Despite analysts’ optimistic forecasts, the Polish construction market has yet to achieve a meaningful rebound in the first half of 2025. It continues to struggle with adverse micro- and macroeconomic factors, including high inflation, expensive credit, and elevated prices of raw materials and construction services.
According to recent data from Statistics Poland (GUS), construction and assembly output in the first half of 2025 fell by 0.7% year-on-year. The housing market also showed declines: the number of housing units completed dropped by 3.5%, permits and notifications with building designs fell by 15.8%, and housing starts decreased by 9.5%. These figures confirm that the market environment remains unfavorable for companies tied to the construction sector.
“Industry uncertainty in the first half of the year was further amplified by global developments, particularly the volatility of tariff levels. For our Group, which operates in 19 countries worldwide, including the U.S.—one of our key markets—this has had significant importance. Despite this, our financial results for the first half of 2025 remain on a growth trajectory,” said Sławomir Majchrowski, CEO of Selena Group.
In the first six months of the year, Selena posted an EBIT of €19.6 million, up 18.6% year-on-year. The company also achieved a gross profit on sales of €70.9 million, representing a 2.5% increase. Overall profitability reached 34.9%, up 0.8 percentage points compared to 34.1% in the same period last year.
The stable results are the outcome of precisely defined goals and consistent execution. The company’s strategy has long relied on a dual-track approach: organic product expansion in key categories such as adhesive foams, silicones, adhesives, and hybrid products, combined with business scaling through mergers and acquisitions (M&A), including in newer segments such as thermal insulation.
“Growth through mergers and acquisitions is currently one of our priority areas, especially given the ongoing market weakness. International expansion allows us to scale our business, improve margins, broaden our global presence, and strengthen competitiveness,” Majchrowski explained. “This, however, requires a very high level of coordination and management of internal processes.”
Selena has significant experience in this area. Its strong management quality and leadership position in Poland’s construction industry are underscored by the company’s third consecutive recognition as one of the winners of Deloitte’s Best Managed Companies Poland 2025 program.
“Such awards motivate us not only to invest in company development but also to build a strong internal structure and management team capable of navigating international finance and operations,” Majchrowski added.
Selena also strengthened its management team in 2025. On September 1, Aleksander Solski was appointed Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Solski has more than 20 years of experience with Unilever, where he rose to Vice President Finance for Eastern Europe, overseeing operations across 20 markets.
“Selena faces many opportunities and challenges ahead. My task as the new CFO will be to support the company in sustaining profitable growth, particularly as M&A activity intensifies. I believe my international financial experience and expertise in group-level reporting will bring tangible benefits to Selena Group,” said Solski.
Looking ahead to the coming months of 2025, Selena plans to continue its development strategy with a focus on portfolio diversification through mergers and acquisitions, both in Poland and globally. These activities will be supported by marketing initiatives promoting the highest product quality tailored to the needs of professional builders.
