Scanway has signed an execution contract with Creotech Instruments to cooperate on the CAMILA (Country Awareness Mission In Land Analysis) project — which will create the largest civil satellite constellation in the history of Poland’s space sector. The constellation will consist of four satellites: three optical and one radar. Creotech Instruments is the general contractor, and the project is funded through Poland’s contribution to the European Space Agency (ESA).

With its own independent satellite constellation, Poland will secure access to state-of-the-art space technologies, strengthening national security and accelerating the development of a data-driven economy.


Scanway’s Contribution and Contract Value

Under the contract, Scanway will deliver two optical instruments for Earth observation:

  • one high-resolution telescope
  • one lower-resolution telescope

The base value of the agreement is approx. EUR 3.55 million, already including the works initiated under the August “Authorization to Proceed.”

The contract may be expanded to include a third high-resolution optical telescope and support for satellite operations post-launch, which could raise its total value to approx. EUR 4.40 million.

“CAMILA will be Poland’s most advanced civil Earth observation constellation, and it will be equipped with Scanway optical instruments. At least two of our telescopes will power this mission,” said Jędrzej Kowalewski, CEO of Scanway S.A.


Contract Schedule and Strategic Importance

The execution contract is divided into two phases.

  • Phase 1, worth approx. EUR 1 million, is scheduled to conclude with the Preliminary Design Review (PDR) around Q1/Q2 2026.
  • Upon ESA and Creotech approval, Phase 2 — the final phase — will proceed.

“CAMILA is a milestone for Poland’s space capabilities and a strong signal of our readiness to participate in major ESA programs. Our strategic goal is to become one of Europe’s leading optical payload integrators by 2028,” added Kowalewski.


About the CAMILA Mission

CAMILA aims to establish Poland’s national satellite constellation delivering optical and radar imaging for civilian use — serving government, research, and commercial sectors.

The constellation will consist of:

  • 2 high-resolution optical satellites
  • 1 lower-resolution optical satellite
  • 1 radar satellite

ESA selected Creotech Instruments as the general contractor. Subcontractors will together receive approx. EUR 29.9 million from the total program value.

The constellation will support:

  • critical infrastructure monitoring
  • climate impact assessment
  • border security
  • agriculture, energy, insurance, and logistics sectors
