Printemps, one of the most famous French department store chains selling luxury goods, has introduced the ability to pay with cryptocurrencies in all of its 20 stores across France. This groundbreaking solution is the result of a collaboration with Binance Pay, a solution provided by the largest cryptocurrency exchange Binance, and technology company Lyzi.
Founded in 1865, Printemps is a iconic brand on the French market, operating in the fashion, luxury, and beauty sectors. The company employs 3,300 workers and sells products from over 3,500 brands both in France and on international markets.
The new payment system is available to over 6.5 million French cryptocurrency users. Customers can pay with Bitcoin, Ethereum and stablecoins such as EURI or USDC among others.
The payment process is simple and secure. The customer scans a QR code at the checkout using the Binance app, selects their preferred cryptocurrency, and confirms the transaction. The entire operation takes just a few seconds. Importantly, payments in cryptocurrencies are automatically converted to euros, which protects the vendor from exchange rate fluctuations.
“We are proud to be the first department store chain in France to offer this option to local and international customers. Working with Binance and Lyzi allows us to enhance our customers’ shopping experiences and tailor our services to the needs of modern, digitally connected consumers,” said Emmanuel Suissa, Director of Partnerships at Printemps.
Thus, Printemps became the first department store chain in Europe to accept cryptocurrency payments. The company has now joined the ranks of retail brands accepting payments in cryptocurrencies, such as the American chain Whole Foods (owned by Amazon), Gucci, electronics store chain Newegg, or car manufacturer Ferrari.
