Poland’s Monetary Policy Council kept NBP interest rates unchanged, including the reference rate at 3.75%. The decision provides no new immediate impulse from cheaper borrowing for home buyers, but the mortgage market is entering a more structural change.

The first bank has begun replacing WIBOR with the new POLSTR benchmark in mortgage pricing. The transition matters because POLSTR and WIBOR can respond differently to monetary-policy expectations and actual central-bank decisions.

For borrowers, the practical effect will depend on the structure of individual loan offers, margins and how quickly the new benchmark is adopted across the banking sector. The change comes as households continue to watch the timing of any future NBP rate cuts.
