For the first time in its history, the Polish Leasing Association has calculated the value of insurance premiums generated by leasing-financed assets. In 2024, leasing companies transferred 7.8 billion PLN to insurance providers, and this amount may exceed 8.5 billion PLN in 2025. After the first half of the year, the total had already reached 4.3 billion PLN. The figures were presented during the opening of the “Leasing and Insurance 2025” conference, which began today in Łódź.
Leasing and insurance — building market security together
“The rule is simple: every asset financed under a lease — whether a car or industrial machinery — must be insured. This natural interdependence makes leasing and insurance inseparable. We protect the financed assets and meet the expectations of clients, who increasingly want to handle all formalities in one place,” said Monika Constant, President of the Polish Leasing Association.
According to Joanna Nadzikiewicz, Director of Leasing Programmes at PZU, “Insurance of leased assets is an integral part of the financing agreement. PZU has cooperated with leasing companies under general agreements for 27 years. We started with motor insurance and later expanded into property insurance. Today, partnership with the leasing sector is a major pillar of our premium volume. Our share of vehicle insurance for leased assets is higher than our overall share of the wider motor insurance market. We provide comprehensive asset protection and real assistance to leasing clients in the event of claims.”
Leasing remains one of the biggest investment engines of the Polish economy
In 2024, leasing companies provided financing worth a total of 110.5 billion PLN, an increase of 10.4% compared to the previous year. Leasing continues to be one of the main engines of corporate investment in Poland — and at the same time one of the most important distribution channels for property insurance.
According to ZPL data, 71.8% of financed assets were passenger and commercial vehicles, 23.7% were machinery and equipment, and 4.5% were other assets, including real estate. Data from Statistics Poland (GUS) confirms that motor insurance policies — civil liability (OC), autocasco (AC) and Green Card — remain the most frequently chosen products. GAP insurance and policies covering new technology or climate risk are also gaining popularity.
The newly compiled insurance data confirms that leasing companies are key business partners for the insurance sector. The 7.8 billion PLN in premiums collected in 2024 represents a significant share of Poland’s property insurance market, which generated 62 billion PLN in gross written premiums last year.
Clients increasingly prioritise convenience and integrated services
According to a survey conducted by the ZPL last year, as many as 71% of leasing clients choose an insurance policy offered directly by the leasing company or its advisor. For 66% of respondents, price remains the key factor. For 51% — scope of coverage. For 44% — convenience, defined as handling all formalities in one place.
“Our research and customer feedback clearly show that clients are becoming more informed and aware. Price still matters, but so does coverage and convenience of the entire journey. The leasing company is becoming a natural partner — offering financing, insurance and advisory services in a single integrated package,” adds Monika Constant.
The amendment to the Civil Code, which came into force on 13 July 2025, now enables leasing agreements to be concluded fully online — in documentary form only.
“E-leasing is a breakthrough solution that directly meets current market expectations. It allows clients to complete the entire process fully remotely — and we hope this will soon apply not only to financing, but to all associated services, including insurance,” emphasises the President of ZPL.
A conference that unites two industries
The “Leasing and Insurance 2025” conference, organised by the Polish Leasing Association, is taking place on 28–29 October in Łódź. It is the largest and only forum in Poland dedicated to cooperation between the leasing and insurance industries, attracting over 300 participants each year — including leasing companies, insurers, brokers, technology providers and the media.
“This conference has become the meeting point of two sectors that work hand in hand every single day. We are pleased to see how many experts it brings together year after year. It proves how important it is to exchange knowledge, seek solutions jointly and discuss the future of both industries,” says Monika Constant.
This year’s agenda covers macroeconomic trends, digitalisation, artificial intelligence in finance, security and fraud prevention — as well as a strategic CEO panel on the key challenges for 2026.
