Polish Green Fund to Invest PLN 55 Million in Five Biogas Plants

ENERGYPolish Green Fund to Invest PLN 55 Million in Five Biogas Plants

The Polish Green Fund Closed-End Investment Fund (PZF), managed by ARP Towarzystwo Funduszy Inwestycyjnych, signed another investment agreement on March 3, 2026. This marks the third transaction completed by the fund in recent months.

The agreement concerns the acquisition of five biogas plants in Poland, their expansion, and potentially their conversion into biomethane production facilities. The financial commitment of the Polish Green Fund in the project will amount to PLN 55 million.

The operational partner in the project is Neo Bio Energy sp. z o.o. (NBE), a leader in the Polish biogas market. The company operates 26 landfill biogas plants, making it the undisputed number one in this segment in Poland. Since 2024, NBE has been developing a second pillar of its business by investing in agricultural biogas plants.

As part of the cooperation, PZF and NBE will establish a holding company, which will own project companies responsible for managing individual installations.

“Another investment by the Polish Green Fund in biogas plants demonstrates that we are consistently implementing our strategy of building a green portfolio based on real and proven projects. Neo Bio Energy is a partner with an unquestioned market position and extensive operational experience. Together we are laying the foundations for the development of the Polish biogas market, which has the potential to become an important pillar of our energy system. Importantly, in this transaction PLN 116 million comes from bank financing – a signal that financial institutions recognize the potential and maturity of such projects. We are not only providing capital but also opening the door for further investors, demonstrating that the green transition can be economically efficient,”
said Michał Handzlik, President of the Management Board of ARP TFI.

The total investment outlays for the project are estimated at PLN 233 million, and the acquisition process for all five biogas plants has already begun.

“This is another milestone for Neo Bio Energy in expanding our activities in the biogas and biomethane sector. The signed agreement brings us a double benefit – on the one hand, capital enabling further acquisitions and asset growth, and on the other, a stable partner contributing knowledge and experience. I look with satisfaction at the development of the Neo Bio Energy group, especially as we have achieved it so far using domestic capital supported by national institutions. My dream is that the future production of biomethane will also supply the domestic industry, contributing to CO₂ reduction and improving living conditions for future generations,”
said Piotr Beaupré, President of the Management Board of Neo Bio Energy.

“It is worth remembering that this milestone consists of hundreds of smaller steps taken daily by our colleagues and partners. It is impossible to fully express our gratitude for their commitment, perseverance in overcoming difficulties, and belief in the right decisions. Even if we do not celebrate the signing of development-supporting agreements every day, progress takes place every single day. It is achieved through all those small, often invisible activities that together create something greater. These are wonderful people for whom work is also a mission,”
added Sławomir Nowicki, General Director.

Three Investments in the Polish Green Fund Portfolio

In December 2025, PZF completed its first investment, acquiring 50% of the shares in two photovoltaic farms. The project in Prusinowo (Greater Poland Voivodeship) includes an existing solar farm complex with a capacity of 15 MW, which is planned to be expanded by another 15 MW, bringing the total capacity to 30 MW.

The project also includes the construction of energy storage facilities. The total value of the investment exceeds PLN 100 million, with PZF contributing PLN 17 million.

At the beginning of 2026, the Polish Green Fund joined an ambitious project to build nine modern agricultural biomethane plants in northern Poland. Each installation will have a capacity of 0.99 MW.

The total value of the project is nearly PLN 400 million, with PZF providing PLN 59 million in capital. Currently, only one biomethane plant operates in Poland, making this investment groundbreaking and expected to significantly accelerate the development of this technology in the country.

The latest investment with Neo Bio Energy is the third agreement in the fund’s portfolio and at the same time the second project in the biogas and biomethane sector. It confirms the consistent implementation of PZF’s investment strategy, focused on renewable energy sources and the energy transition of the Polish economy.

Representatives of ARP TFI emphasize that biogas and biomethane projects are crucial for Poland’s energy security. The country’s domestic feedstock potential could enable the production of 5 to 6 billion cubic meters of biomethane annually, equivalent to approximately one quarter of Poland’s current natural gas consumption.

The Polish Green Fund consistently supports the transformation of the Polish economy by engaging in projects that contribute to the decarbonization of the energy sector, industry, and local infrastructure. The fund focuses on renewable energy sources, including wind farms, photovoltaic installations, biogas plants, and energy storage systems.

The financial instruments created by the fund also aim to support the development of the infrastructure investment market in Poland. The mission of the fund is to support the green transformation of the Polish economy and the decarbonization of the energy sector.
