According to the December OECD forecast, Poland’s economy is expected to grow by 2.8% in 2025, supported by an increase in real wages and fiscal policy measures. The GDP is projected to rise to 3.4% in 2025 and then decrease to 3% in 2026. The year 2025 will bring significant legislative changes for Poland, both in terms of domestic regulations and adjustments to EU directives. These will include increased excise duties, new environmental requirements, and tax changes.
“When we look at the Polish economy, we must acknowledge that we are part of the world, part of Europe,” said Professor Witold Orłowski, an economist from the Vistula Academy of Finance and Business, and the Warsaw University of Technology, in an interview with eNewsroom.pl. “The situation depends on what happens externally. We don’t know what will happen with the war occurring nearby, what will happen with President Trump and his aggressive economic actions, whether the world will experience growth or recession. We don’t know if the situation will improve in Germany or if there will continue to be periods of stagnation or economic recession. All of this does not look optimistic, which means that the Polish economy will grow under unfavorable conditions. Last year, we experienced one of the highest growth rates in Europe at nearly 3%. In 2025, GDP growth will be between 2.5% and 3%. Unemployment will be almost non-existent, wages will rise, inflation will not be as catastrophic as it once was—but it will probably still be around 5-6%. The złoty may weaken slightly. So I wouldn’t expect too many miracles this year—but I also believe it won’t be a wasted year for the Polish economy. Will that be enough to keep people satisfied?—Professor Witold Orłowski wonders.”
