Poland’s manufacturing PMI rose to 49.4 points in May, which still indicates a deterioration in business conditions, but at the mildest pace in more than a year. A positive signal was the increase in production, which appeared despite the continuing decline in new orders, suggesting the first signs of stabilisation.
At the same time, weak demand — linked to economic uncertainty and high inventory levels among customers — continues to limit the sector’s development. Although cost pressure has eased slightly, it remains elevated, while longer delivery times point to persistent tensions in supply chains.
As a result, the picture of Polish manufacturing remains mixed: there are signs of stabilisation and improved activity, but the foundations of a recovery are still fragile.
