Poland’s Decorative Paint Market in 2025: No Rebound, Sales Value Down 0.3% and Volume Down 2.5%

INDUSTRIESPoland’s Decorative Paint Market in 2025: No Rebound, Sales Value Down 0.3% and Volume Down 2.5%

In 2025, the decorative paints industry – the largest segment of the market – recorded a marginal decline in the value of paint sales of -0.3% year-on-year, reaching PLN 2.63 billion (compared to growth of 0.6% in 2024). At the same time, sales volume measured in liters fell slightly by -2.5% year-on-year (versus -3.5% in 2024). The results are based on the SellFiK report prepared for the Polish Association of Paint and Adhesive Manufacturers.

Despite earlier forecasts, the Polish paint market showed no signs of a rebound in 2025 following the difficult years prior. The industry continued to operate under conditions of limited demand and significant market uncertainty. Key growth barriers in the first half of 2025 included persistently relatively high interest rates, which curtailed construction and finishing investments in both the residential and commercial sectors. Consumer caution was another important factor. Weak household sentiment translated into postponed decisions regarding interior renovation projects.

The industry also continued to struggle with excessive administrative burdens, including a substantial number of regulations and related documentation requirements.

Outlook for 2026

The year 2026 is shaping up to be a period of gradual recovery for the decorative paints segment, although without signs of dynamic volume growth. The anticipated rebound is expected to be moderate in nature – the market does not foresee a spectacular boom, but rather cautious and selective growth in demand. One of the key drivers of the economy will be investments in new construction and building modernization programs.

At the beginning of 2026, signs of improving macroeconomic conditions have emerged, which may positively influence consumers’ renovation decisions. Lower interest rates and greater availability of mortgage and consumer loans are increasing Poles’ willingness to invest in finishing works and interior refurbishment. Forecasts for the construction sector for the remainder of the year are cautiously optimistic, pointing to increased investment activity, also supported by public funding and EU funds.

“For the decorative paints industry, it is crucial to effectively capitalize on the upcoming investment impulse in order to build a solid foundation for growth in the coming years. At the same time, what we strongly advocate within the Polish Association of Paint and Adhesive Manufacturers are legislative simplifications at both the national and EU levels, to facilitate business operations in the face of global competition and tariff tensions,” commented Michał Czekaj, President of the Management Board of the Polish Association of Paint and Adhesive Manufacturers.

In 2026, qualitative factors will also play a growing role in purchasing decisions. Consumers are increasingly paying attention to product safety and environmentally friendly composition. Construction and renovation projects will be carried out more thoughtfully, with an emphasis on quality and aesthetics.
