Bumech S.A., a Silesia-based company listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange (GPW), has signed a cooperation agreement with Nordic Air Defence AB (NAD) of Sweden to jointly develop, produce, and integrate unmanned aerial systems (UAS) designed to support armored vehicles. The partnership marks another milestone in Bumech’s internationalization strategy within the defence sector and strengthens its position as a comprehensive solutions provider for defense markets across Central and Eastern Europe and Scandinavia.

Strengthening Bumech’s Expansion into Advanced Defence Technologies

The agreement with Nordic Air Defence represents a key step in Bumech’s strategy to enter the defense technology market and build expertise in unmanned and counter-drone systems. The collaboration opens opportunities for business diversification, access to NAD’s innovative anti-drone technologies, geographic expansion, and competence development in the field of armored vehicle support systems.

This partnership complements Bumech’s previously announced cooperation with OTT Technologies (Pty) Ltd, a South African manufacturer of MRAP-class armored vehicles, unveiled in September 2025. NAD will contribute a critical technological component — drone defense systems — offering a cost-effective response to one of the most significant threats on modern battlefields.

“Experience from the war in Ukraine has made it clear that armored vehicles without effective protection against drones are easy targets,” said Marcin Sutkowski, majority shareholder of Bumech S.A.
“NAD’s technologies perfectly complement the OTT TRIAD systems we offer, creating a multi-layered defense for our platforms.”

Building a European Defence Ecosystem

Sutkowski emphasized that the partnership with NAD also represents a broader technological and strategic alignment between Poland and Sweden.

“We see tremendous potential in bilateral technological exchange with Sweden — a country that values proven solutions and is open to innovations from beyond the traditional Western European supply chain,” he added.
“This cooperation is a major step forward in building our competencies in advanced defense technologies. We believe it will open new opportunities — both technological and commercial. Integrating unmanned systems with our armored vehicles, developed together with OTT Technologies, will significantly enhance our offering by providing additional layers of protection and new combat capabilities.”

Scope of Cooperation: Production, R&D, and Market Expansion

The partnership covers joint evaluation and use of production facilities in Poland, co-manufacturing of components, and development of a shared supply chain. In the R&D area, the companies will adapt drone technologies to meet end-user requirements, including improvements in aerodynamics, guidance systems, launchers, and C2 (command and control) integration.

Joint activities will also include testing strategies, operational support, marketing and sales coordination, and industrial partnership development. The geographical scope of cooperation includes Poland, Sweden, and Ukraine — countries linked not only by proximity but also by a shared security threat profile. The Eastern flank of NATO and Ukraine face heavy drone warfare, making NAD’s technologies particularly relevant for modernizing the region’s armed forces.

“Our ambition is to build a truly European defense consortium that unites the best competencies from different countries,” Sutkowski noted.
“Polish manufacturing, Swedish technology, and South African combat experience — that combination can shift the balance of power in Europe’s defense industry.”
