ORLEN will supply 140 million cubic meters of natural gas based on a new contract with Ukrainian Naftogaz. The gas will originate from the United States and, after regasification at the LNG terminal in Świnoujście, will be delivered to Ukraine. The agreement guarantees the continuity of gas fuel supplies to the Ukrainian market in the coming months and is of significant importance for the country’s energy security ahead of the heating season.
This is already the fourth gas supply contract concluded between ORLEN and Naftogaz in 2025. The total volume of the three previous contracts is approximately 300 million cubic meters. Each time, the gas came from regasified American LNG, which the Polish company imported to terminals in Świnoujście or the Lithuanian Klaipeda.
“Thanks to continuously developed trading competencies, our own LNG transport units, and reserved capacities at regasification terminals, we are able to support Ukraine in diversifying sources and directions of natural gas supply, especially as the summer months are the time for filling storage facilities. Our actions align with the goals set by the European Union under REPowerEU, and even go a step further — ORLEN has not imported gas from Russia for over three years and is also able to assist neighboring countries, such as Slovakia and Ukraine, on their path to independence from eastern raw materials. This is confirmed by the fourth contract we signed this year with our Ukrainian partner. I am pleased that Naftogaz appreciated the competitiveness of our offer — this is a solid basis for intensifying cooperation, which benefits both parties and contributes to strengthening the region’s energy security,” said Robert Soszyński, ORLEN Vice President for Operations.
The latest contract is a result of the LNG natural gas commercial cooperation agreement that Naftogaz and ORLEN signed in March 2025.
“Naftogaz is diversifying sources and directions of gas supply, which strengthens Ukraine’s energy security and resilience in the face of the ongoing full-scale war with Russia. We are grateful to our Polish partners and highly value this cooperation. Signing an additional contract for the supply of American LNG is an important part of our preparations for the upcoming heating season and a crucial step toward ensuring reliable gas supplies for the people of Ukraine,” said Sergii Koretskyi, CEO of Naftogaz.
