ORLEN Strengthens Its Position in Small-Scale LNG Deliveries in 2025

ENERGYORLEN Strengthens Its Position in Small-Scale LNG Deliveries in 2025

In 2025, ORLEN reinforced its position in the small-scale LNG segment, delivering more than 245,000 tonnes of liquefied natural gas to customers. This volume would be sufficient to supply all households in cities the size of Rzeszów or Olsztyn for nearly five years. The LNG was sourced primarily from the terminal in Świnoujście LNG Terminal, as well as the transshipment facility in Klaipėda, and from ORLEN’s own production. Transported by road tankers, the liquefied gas reached individual customers and businesses in areas with limited access to the nationwide gas grid.

Most of the LNG sold by ORLEN came from seaborne imports to the Świnoujście terminal and the Klaipėda transshipment station, from which nearly 13,000 tanker trucks were dispatched to customers last year. These supplies were complemented by ORLEN’s own production at its plants in Odolanów and Grodzisk Wielkopolski. In total, the Group introduced over 245,000 tonnes of LNG to the market in 2025: 192,000 tonnes from Świnoujście, more than 33,000 tonnes from Klaipėda, and over 20,000 tonnes from the Odolanów and Grodzisk Wielkopolski facilities.

“The scale of LNG deliveries confirms ORLEN Group’s strong position on the domestic market and its growing potential in the Baltic countries. Liquefied natural gas is essential for ensuring continuity of energy supply, particularly in areas with limited access to network infrastructure. It is also an important element of the energy transition in Polish industry and transport. Thanks to LNG import contracts and reserved reception and transshipment infrastructure in Poland and Lithuania, we are able to effectively meet our customers’ demand for natural gas,”
said Grzegorz Bujnowski, Executive Director for Gas Trading at ORLEN.

Last year, ORLEN fully utilized the transshipment capacity of the Świnoujście terminal. Nearly 11,000 tanker trucks departed from the facility, delivering 192,000 tonnes of LNG to customers. Since the terminal began operations in 2016, almost 51,000 tanker trucks have been loaded there, corresponding to nearly one million tonnes of LNG in total.

The Klaipėda transshipment station recorded a 32% year-on-year increase in volumes in 2025, resulting in over 8,000 tonnes more LNG delivered to customers than in the previous year. From the start of its use in 2020 through the end of last year, nearly 102,000 tonnes of LNG were delivered to customers from this facility.

Among the main recipients of LNG are industrial customers across various sectors, as well as individual consumers connected to isolated gas systems. These systems are not linked to the national gas grid, so gas is supplied in LNG form and then regasified at local regasification stations. LNG is also used in areas that do have access to the national distribution network but where demand exceeds the capacity of existing pipelines. In such cases, LNG regasification stations supplement gas supplies to the grid, enabling full coverage of customer needs.
