Energa Green Development, a unit of the ORLEN Group, has taken over from ONDE and Goalscreen Holdings Limited the Szybowice wind farm project located in the Opole province. The investment, with a total capacity of 37.4 MW, will be realized by the end of 2025 and will be the first wind farm of the ORLEN Group located in southern Poland.
The Szybowice wind farm, located in the municipality of Prudnik, will consist of 17 Vestas turbines, each with a capacity of 2.2 MW, which will be sufficient to power about 60 thousand households. It will be the fourteenth wind farm in the company’s portfolio. Of the nearly 1 GW of renewable power of the ORLEN Group, over 500 MW comes from wind. ONDE, a leading general contractor of RES installations in Poland with over 400 wind and photovoltaic projects under its belt, will be responsible for the implementation of the investment.
Energa Green Development is a company from the ORLEN Group responsible for the development of land-based renewable sources. The company’s portfolio also includes greenfield photovoltaic projects at various stages of progress with a total capacity of over 1 GW. Approximately 180 MW of this capacity is intended to be deployed in a cable-pooling format i.e., using an existing grid connection that is also used by wind farms.
In accordance with its adopted strategy, by the end of 2030, the ORLEN Group will have more than 9 GW of renewable power, covering sea and land wind farms, solar power, as well as biogas and biomethane generation units. In total, through the potential of the combined multi-energy Group, the ORLEN Group will invest up to PLN 120 billion in green investments by the end of the decade.
