ORLEN has launched its first multi-bay fast-charging hub for electric vehicles in Germany under the ORLEN Charge brand. The facility is located next to the A23 motorway in Elmshorn, near Hamburg, where ORLEN Deutschland is headquartered. Drivers can use 16 charging points, each offering up to 400 kW of power, significantly reducing charging time during longer journeys.
“Electromobility is one of the areas in which ORLEN is consistently building a modern, integrated offer for customers. The opening of the first ORLEN Charge hub in Germany demonstrates that our investment in charging infrastructure extends beyond the domestic market and responds to the needs of drivers in other countries where we operate. We want travelling by electric vehicle to become simpler, more convenient and more accessible, with ORLEN serving as a natural partner for customers throughout this transition,” says Marek Balawejder, Member of the ORLEN Management Board for Consumer & Products.
The Elmshorn hub offers 16 fast-charging points, each with capacity of up to 400 kW, matching the specifications of ORLEN Charge hubs in Poland. All charging bays are covered, while photovoltaic panels installed on the roof support the facility’s electricity supply with renewable energy.
To improve travellers’ comfort, the site also includes toilets, rest areas, car vacuum cleaners and air compressors, as well as a self-service store offering a wide selection of snacks, cold and hot drinks, and automotive accessories. Thanks to Grab & Go technology, payments are processed automatically, without staff involvement or the need for customers to manually scan products.
ORLEN continues to expand its offer in Germany. The Group operates more than 600 conventional fuel stations in the country under the ORLEN and star brands, as well as 220 electric-vehicle charging points. Under signed agreements, a further 360 ORLEN Charge fast-charging points are to be built in Germany by the end of 2026, located at popular retail destinations.
At the same time, the ORLEN Charge network is expanding rapidly in Poland. Customers can already use more than a dozen modern eight-bay hubs, with charging capacity of up to 400 kW per connector, including locations at the Olsztynek Południe motorway service area, Szczecin, Brzegi and Gorzów Wielkopolski.
Under the ORLEN Group Strategy to 2035, the ORLEN Charge network is intended to become one of the leaders in Poland’s publicly accessible EV charging market.
