ORLEN Deutschland, a subsidiary of the ORLEN Group, will install more than 200 ORLEN Charge fast charging points in at least 30 prime locations across Germany. The investment, set to be completed by the end of 2026 in collaboration with May & Co. Holding, aligns with ORLEN’s strategic plans for the development of electromobility. These plans aim for a network of 6,000 charging points in Poland and approximately 2,500 abroad within the next decade.
The network of over 200 fast charging points in Germany will be established under an agreement between ORLEN Deutschland and May & Co. Holding, a company specializing in commercial real estate management. The contract also includes the potential expansion of the ORLEN Charge network to additional locations managed by May & Co. Holding in the future.
“Modern technologies, including the development of electromobility, represent a highly promising business for us. The growing number of electric vehicles on the roads must be accompanied by the expansion of infrastructure. We have accelerated investments in the construction of fast-charging stations to meet customer needs. We have clearly defined goals for the coming years. We aim to be a leading provider of electric vehicle charging services in the region. According to our strategy, by 2035, the ORLEN Charge network will account for 33% of the energy supplied to electric vehicles in Poland’s EV charging market, corresponding to 6,000 charging points. We are consistently working to increase the availability of alternative fuels in foreign markets, and our partnership with May & Co. Holding is a key step towards achieving the 2,500 fast charging points abroad outlined in our strategy,” said Krzysztof Kaczyński, Executive Director for Electromobility at ORLEN.
As part of the collaboration between ORLEN Deutschland and May & Co. Holding, ORLEN Charge chargers will be placed in locations that are highly desirable for electric vehicle users. The charging stations will be available in shopping parks and retail chains, allowing customers to charge their vehicles while shopping. Under the agreement, ORLEN will install over 200 high-power charging points, ranging from 150 to 400 kW.
“Our cooperation with ORLEN Deutschland opens new opportunities for us as a real estate manager, enabling us to offer our tenants and their customers a wider range of services that will significantly enhance the attractiveness of our locations. At the same time, we are jointly committed to promoting electromobility and, consequently, a sustainable future,” said Jens-Henrik Gerdes, Managing Director of May & Co. Development GmbH.
“The partnership with May & Co. Holding is a crucial step in the development of the ORLEN Charge network in Germany and a significant strengthening of our position in this market. Thanks to the signed agreement, we have gained a reliable partner with whom we can continue our collaboration and implement further electromobility projects in the future. Our contract includes the possibility of increasing the number of locations for our chargers in the future,” said Dennis Kulbach, Managing Director of ORLEN Deutschland.
Currently, the ORLEN Charge network in Germany consists of 60 charging points. This number is expected to increase to over 200 by the end of this year. As a result of the agreement with May & Co. Holding, the total number of charging points will exceed 460 by the end of 2026.
Additionally, ORLEN Deutschland is building its first charging hub in Germany in Elmshorn, near Hamburg. This hub will feature 16 charging points with a power of up to 400 kW and will operate under the ORLEN Charge brand. The facility is expected to be completed by the end of 2025. ORLEN also plans to develop charging hubs in Poland, with 13 such facilities set to be launched by the end of this year.
