The Research and Development Center for Maritime Technology S.A. (Ośrodek Badawczo-Rozwojowy Centrum Techniki Morskiej S.A., OBR CTM) and SATIM Monitoring Satelitarny Sp. z o.o. announced today a strategic partnership aimed at delivering a more comprehensive and reliable picture of maritime situations — both for Poland’s Ministry of National Defence (MoND) and for international partners.
OBR CTM, part of the Polish Armaments Group (PGZ), is a leading Polish defense technology company specializing in maritime systems and situational awareness at sea. One of its flagship solutions is Digital Baltic, an integrated platform providing advanced maritime situational awareness.
As part of the partnership, SATIM, a Polish defense-tech startup and pioneer in Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) image analysis powered by artificial intelligence, will integrate its advanced OREC (Object Recognition) software — used for object detection and classification — with the Digital Baltic platform. By combining Digital Baltic’s multi-sensor environment with SATIM’s automated satellite data analysis, the joint solution will deliver precise operational information about the situation in the Baltic Sea.

The announcement coincides with preparations by Poland’s Ministry of National Defence for the MikroSAR mission, which is scheduled to begin delivering national SAR satellite imagery in the fourth quarter of 2025. These data will serve as a key information source for the Digital Baltic platform, while SATIM’s role will be to convert raw radar data into operational insights on vessels and maritime activity.
