Nationale-Nederlanden Open Pension Fund (NN OFE), the largest institutional equity investor in Central and Eastern Europe, has acquired a 5.2% stake in MCI Capital – a leading private equity fund specializing in investments in the technology and healthcare sectors. NN OFE is now the third pension fund to join MCI Capital’s shareholder base, underscoring growing market confidence in the company’s investment strategy and long-term performance.
Over the past decade, MCI Capital has established a strong position among European private equity funds, focusing on creating long-term value for shareholders through investments in digital transformation leaders and fast-growing companies in the technology and healthcare industries. The fund also implements a dividend policy that provides for the distribution of 4% of net asset value (NAV) annually — a practice that distinguishes it within the European private equity landscape.
“The addition of NN OFE to our group of shareholders is a clear signal that the institutional market increasingly recognizes the investment potential of the private equity sector in Poland and across the region. We view this investment as a vote of confidence in our consistent strategy and a confirmation of MCI’s position as one of the leading investors in technology companies in Central and Eastern Europe. Our goal remains the long-term growth of shareholder value through effective investments and responsible capital management,” said Tomasz Czechowicz, Founder and Managing Partner of MCI Capital.
The transaction further strengthens MCI Capital’s standing as one of the most credible and mature private equity funds in the region, emphasizing its consistent asset growth and ability to attract long-term institutional capital.
“Compared to global markets, there are relatively few listed technology companies on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. MCI provides an opportunity to invest in a diversified portfolio of rapidly growing firms, and we expect more investors to join the shareholder base, increasing stock liquidity. At the same time, pension fund investments in private equity have long been a challenge in Poland, even though they are one of the most important asset classes for insurance companies and pension funds globally. The investment by such a renowned institution as Nationale-Nederlanden marks a significant milestone for MCI Capital, confirming the attractiveness of our strategy and the fund’s potential to build long-term value,” emphasized Paweł Borys, Managing Partner at MCI Capital.
MCI Capital is the largest private equity fund listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange (WSE) in Central and Eastern Europe. The firm focuses on mid-market buyout transactions in the technology sector, managing assets exceeding PLN 2.7 billion. Its investment strategy centers on supporting and building the value of European leaders in the digital economy.
