NASK estimates that 30.3% of all jobs in Poland are potentially exposed to the effects of generative artificial intelligence. This represents approximately 5.08 million positions, including 817,500 classified as being at the highest level of exposure. Experts stress that AI will reduce employment in many occupations, particularly those centred on processing information. At the same time, the technology may create entirely new jobs, while specialised skills are expected to become increasingly valuable.
“Will artificial intelligence eliminate many occupations? My brutally honest answer is yes. These are occupations whose business models are based on processing information. We have witnessed something similar before. When the internet emerged, it reduced the cost of transmitting information almost to zero. Companies whose business models were based on storing information in silos and passing it on largely disappeared from the market,” Paweł Tkaczyk, a marketing and brand-building expert, told the Newseria news agency.
“We no longer have telephone directories because they were replaced by the internet. We no longer have video rental stores because they were replaced by Netflix. Artificial intelligence is now reducing the cost of creating information to almost zero,” he added.
AI Is Already Widely Used in Poland
According to last year’s KPMG report, Artificial Intelligence in Poland: A Landscape Full of Paradoxes, AI has already become a permanent part of the personal and professional lives of many Poles. Some 84% of respondents use artificial intelligence.
Among employed respondents, 71% use AI tools at work, while every respondent currently in education reported using them for learning purposes. Three out of four users said that automating repetitive tasks had improved their productivity and access to resources.
Although AI increases efficiency for most users in Poland, in one-third of cases it also leads to a greater workload. Almost half of employees are concerned that they will fall behind unless they use artificial intelligence.
“If you are a lawyer who receives information from a client and returns it in a processed form, artificial intelligence will take away your work. The partly good and partly bad news is that it will primarily affect the middle and lower tiers of the profession, while the best specialists will remain,” Tkaczyk said.
“It is not necessarily artificial intelligence itself that will take your job. It will be taken by people who use artificial intelligence to complete your tasks better and faster than you can.”
AI Is Increasing the Value of Expert Knowledge
PwC’s 2026 Global AI Jobs Barometer indicates that artificial intelligence is professionalising certain occupations by increasing the importance of expert knowledge and specialist skills. In other professions, AI is having a democratising effect by making tasks easier for people with less experience.
Occupations in the first group are growing twice as quickly as those being democratised by AI. Since 2021, wages for specialists in professionalised occupations have increased 42% faster than in the second group.
At the same time, occupations being professionalised by AI represent a much smaller proportion of job advertisements: 22%, compared with 52% for occupations in which AI is making work more accessible.
The skills required in jobs most strongly affected by AI are changing more than twice as quickly as those required in positions with little exposure to the technology. This increasingly includes capabilities such as empathy and creativity, which become more important when technology takes over some routine tasks.
Office Workers Face the Greatest Exposure
A report prepared by NASK, Poland’s Ministry of Digital Affairs and the International Labour Organization, titled Generative Artificial Intelligence and the Polish Labour Market, shows that 4.9% of employees in Poland work in occupations with the highest exposure to automation and transformation resulting from the use of generative AI.
Office workers are the group most exposed to the technology. More than 71% of them perform tasks that could potentially be automated.
“Is artificial intelligence more likely to take jobs from people with higher education? In my opinion, yes. This is because higher education is strongly correlated with business models based on processing information rather than interacting directly with the physical world,” Tkaczyk said.
“As a marketing strategist, I receive market information based on research, process it and use it to produce a strategy. This is something AI can do without any difficulty.”
However, he does not believe that people with higher education will necessarily be forced into manual work.
“People who worked in advertising before the emergence of social media found new roles within the advertising industry. People will also find their place in a world shaped by artificial intelligence, and this does not necessarily mean returning to construction work or painting fences,” he said.
Poles Are Becoming Less Concerned About AI
Research also indicates that Polish consumers and employees are becoming less fearful of artificial intelligence.
According to Future Mind’s report, How AI Is Changing the Everyday Lives of Poles: Artificial Intelligence at Work and in Personal Life in 2026, one in three Poles said that the presence of AI caused them concern. A year earlier, the figure was above 40%.
At the same time, the proportion of respondents expressing hope or declaring a neutral attitude towards the development of AI is increasing.
Artificial Intelligence Will Create New Jobs
“Will AI create new jobs? Absolutely, but we are unable to say exactly what they will be,” Tkaczyk said.
“When discussing innovation, we can identify two ways in which new opportunities emerge. The first is evolutionary: we know, for example, that the invention of the car created jobs for car mechanics. The second is revolutionary and cannot be predicted.”
“The invention of the car also led to the creation of drive-in cinemas and Walmart, neither of which people initially anticipated. The same happened with the internet. It enabled information to be transmitted more quickly, but it also created social media managers and professionals who provide mental health support to people struggling with FOMO-related problems.”
LinkedIn’s Labor Market Report indicates that 1.3 million new AI-related jobs have been created worldwide over the past two years. These include positions such as data annotator, AI engineer and forward-deployed engineer.
Many of these roles did not exist only a few years ago but have rapidly become essential to digital economies.
Specialisation Will Become Increasingly Important
According to Tkaczyk, employees should prepare for the AI-driven transformation of the labour market by developing specialised expertise rather than attempting to follow every development in artificial intelligence.
“How can people prepare effectively for a labour market being transformed by AI? They need to specialise because the technology is advancing extremely quickly. Even people who work deeply within the AI sector have been saying for some time that they are unable to keep up. The average person has absolutely no chance of following everything,” he said.
“People should specialise in using artificial intelligence for specific purposes, such as generating images, managing data or creating written content. In my view, trying to keep up with artificial intelligence in general is gradually ceasing to make sense.”
