MedTech Solutions is moving into the operational phase of introducing the MISSO robotic system for orthopaedic procedures to the Polish market. The company is preparing the system’s first pilot deployment in Europe, which will take place at the Mazovian Specialist Hospital in Ostrołęka.
Following the signing of agreements with technology manufacturer Meril Life Sciences and the hospital, as well as the completion of certified training for the medical team, Polish doctors are now prepared to perform procedures using MISSO.
MedTech Solutions began developing its surgical robotics business in May 2026, when it signed an agreement with global medical technology manufacturer Meril Life Sciences. Under the agreement, the company is responsible for market development and distribution of the MISSO system in Poland.
The contract grants MedTech Solutions exclusive sales rights in the Polish market, excluding Meril’s own structures, for a period of up to five years.
The next stage involved signing an agreement with the Mazovian Specialist Hospital in Ostrołęka for a pilot deployment of the system. The project is now moving from the contractual and organisational phase into operational implementation.
Experience gained from the first deployment is expected to be used to develop a cooperation model for other healthcare institutions and support the further commercialisation of MISSO in Poland.
“Signing the agreement with Meril Life Sciences gave us access to one of the most advanced robotic technologies in orthopaedics, as well as exclusive sales rights in the Polish market. The agreement with the hospital in Ostrołęka opened the way for the first pilot deployment, while the certification of the medical team allows us to move into the operational phase of the project,” said Jarosław Kaim, CEO of MedTech Solutions.
“Our goal is to introduce MISSO to Polish hospitals and build the expertise needed to scale orthopaedic robotics. Together with the medical community, we therefore plan to establish Poland’s first training centre dedicated to the MISSO system and orthopaedic robotics,” he added.
Personalised Surgical Planning Based on 3D CT Imaging
MISSO is one of the most advanced robotic technologies used in orthopaedics. It combines personalised planning based on 3D imaging, active robotic bone cutting with submillimetre accuracy, and the ability to review and modify the surgical plan during the procedure.
Using computed tomography data, the system creates a three-dimensional model of the patient’s anatomy. This allows the medical team to prepare an individual surgical plan and precisely determine the position of the implant.
Many other orthopaedic systems use planning based on two-dimensional X-ray images. The use of 3D imaging allows the patient’s anatomy to be reproduced more accurately, enabling more precise and personalised surgical planning.
MISSO is an active robotic system. It autonomously carries out the approved plan and performs the planned cuts, although the entire process remains under the constant supervision of the surgeon.
The doctor retains control over the procedure and can review or modify the plan during the operation. The robot does not replace the surgeon, but supports the medical team during the most demanding stages of the procedure.
According to MedTech Solutions, MISSO is currently the most technologically advanced robot available in the European market within this segment of orthopaedic robotics.
Under laboratory conditions, the system achieved positioning and movement accuracy of below 0.1 mm. It can perform selected tasks several times faster than manual techniques, with a level of precision that cannot be achieved by the human hand.
Medical Team Certified to Use MISSO
As part of the preparations for the pilot deployment, theoretical and practical training was conducted for the first international group of doctors from Poland, the Netherlands, Germany and Slovakia.
The training concluded with the participants receiving certificates authorising them to work with the MISSO system.
The Mazovian Specialist Hospital in Ostrołęka was represented by Dr Michał Dębiński, Head of the Orthopaedics Department, and Dr Cezary Buko. Both doctors received the certification required to operate the system.
“The MISSO robotic system stands out from the available solutions due to its full autonomy. I had already seen many systems and went to the training with a degree of scepticism, but the technology surprised me very positively,” said Dr Michał Dębiński.
“The precision we were able to observe cannot be achieved by a human. This solution will provide enormous support to the medical team,” he added.
“The team of experts from India knows exactly what needs to be done. I am pleased that it has a broader plan for the development of the technology and clearly defined objectives supported by extensive experience,” said Dr Cezary Buko.
“Like my colleague, I can say that it was a very positive surprise. It is rare for reality to exceed expectations, but this was one of those situations,” he added.
Polish Market Estimated at 110,000 Procedures Annually
According to the company’s estimates, the potential market for this type of technology in Poland includes approximately 400 healthcare institutions and 110,000 procedures per year.
The commercialisation of MISSO is expected to be supported by a financing model that includes leasing, which could make the technology more accessible to hospitals.
MedTech Solutions expects the market to move towards the increasingly widespread use of medical robotics, particularly in areas where technology can improve the precision, repeatability and efficiency of procedures.
