The number of newly issued purpose-specific loans in February 2025 increased by +18.8% year-over-year (YoY). However, in terms of value, the growth was lower at +12.0% YoY. This indicates that primarily lower-value loans were issued, which was directly reflected in a decrease in the average loan amount granted compared to the previous year.
In February 2024, all purpose-specific loans had already been reported, meaning there was no longer a distorted comparative base due to incomplete reporting. Therefore, the dynamics observed in February 2025 fully reflect the current market situation.
A second category consists of cash loans, which are transferred directly to the borrower’s account and can be used for any purpose, including supplementing the household budget. This segment includes two categories of cash loans:
- Short-term cash loans with small amounts and repayment periods of up to 60 days.
- Long-term cash loans with higher amounts and repayment periods often extending over several years (more than 60 days).
The average value of a short-term cash loan (up to 60 days) issued in February 2025 was 2,523 PLN, representing a 12.1% increase compared to the average loan amount granted in February 2024. The total value of cash loans granted in this segment reached 994 million PLN, reflecting a YoY increase of +31.5%. The number of these loans also grew by +16.9% YoY. Loans with a duration of up to 60 days accounted for 72.7% of the total value of all cash loans issued in February 2025.
Regarding long-term cash loans (over 60 days), a total of 67,000 loans were issued in February 2025, amounting to 374 million PLN. Compared to February 2024, this represents a numerical increase of +16.7% and a value increase of +30.4%. The average value of a long-term cash loan granted in February 2025 was 5,603 PLN, which was 12.2% higher than the average loan amount granted in February 2024.
Similar to purpose-specific loans, all cash loans had already been reported in February 2024. Therefore, there is no longer any impact from incomplete reporting, and the dynamics observed in February 2025 fully reflect the current market conditions. As in previous months, the structure of non-bank loan sales was dominated by purpose-specific loans in terms of volume, while cash loans dominated in terms of value.

Structure of the Polish Non-Bank Loan Market
The Polish non-bank loan market is based on two main product segments, each with distinct characteristics.
The first category consists of purpose-specific loans, which are characterized by their relatively low amounts. The average value of a newly issued purpose-specific loan in February 2025 was 675 PLN, which was 5.8% lower than the average amount granted a year earlier. These loans are issued to finance a specific purpose, such as purchasing goods or services. The funds are not directly available to the customer for discretionary use.
