Green energy at the center of the new economic plan

ENERGYGreen energy at the center of the new economic plan

During the presentation of the new economic plan “Poland. Breakthrough Year”, Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Finance Minister Andrzej Domański presented energy transformation as one of the key pillars of the development of the Polish economy. Among the announced activities were investments in green energy, as well as legislative changes aimed at supporting the development of the energy sector.

Energy transformation as a priority

Prime Minister Tusk emphasized the strategic importance of energy for technological development and economic success in Poland. The need to accelerate actions in the field of green energy was highlighted in order to make the Polish economy more competitive and attract new investments.

Paulina Grądzik, Deputy Director of the Department of Energy and Climate Change at the Confederation of Leviathan, stressed that the development of the energy sector is key to economic transformation. “The technological transformation and economic success depends on the development of the energy sector. To attract more investments and create competitive conditions for businesses, it is necessary to increase the availability of cheap, green energy,” said Grądzik.

The windmill law in focus

One of the important elements of the transformation is to be the development of onshore wind energy. Paulina Grądzik pointed out the need for urgent proceedings of the so-called windmill law, which assumes reducing the minimum distance of wind installations from buildings from 700 to 500 meters. Grądzik believes that the project can significantly contribute to unlocking the potential of wind energy and implementing the government’s economic plan.

“This regulation is crucial for quickly unleashing the potential of onshore wind energy. Energy from wind is the cheapest, hence its development is necessary for the success of the energy transformation,” Grądzik emphasized.

The draft law is currently awaiting consideration by the Standing Committee of the Council of Ministers, and its further proceedings in the Sejm is key to implementing the government’s plan.

Challenges of the energy system

During the presentation of the plan, attention was paid to issues such as the stability of energy supply and diversification of its sources. However, Paulina Grądzik noted that the Polish energy system still faces many challenges that require comprehensive action.

“The energy system is extremely complex and crucial for economic development, but at the same time, it requires solutions that take into account its specificity and challenges. We count on constructive dialogue and declare readiness to support the search for optimal solutions,” added Grądzik.
