Girteka, the largest road freight carrier in Europe, has signed a landmark agreement with Volvo Trucks for the purchase of 2,000 new high-capacity trucks. The deal marks the largest single truck order in Europe so far in 2025.
This significant investment is aligned with Girteka’s strategy to maintain a modern, efficient fleet that meets the evolving needs of its customers. The new trucks, scheduled for delivery within 2025, will help renew the company’s fleet, increasing its reliability, flexibility, and readiness to meet growing market demands. With state-of-the-art vehicles and advanced digital tools, Girteka is reinforcing its ability to meet strict delivery timelines—especially in sensitive cargo sectors, such as temperature-controlled transport.
“Every delivery matters—to our customers and to us. That means every truck must be reliable. Renewing the fleet ensures the efficiency and dependability we need to fulfill our promises today and in the future while maintaining our market advantage,” said Edvardas Liachovičius, CEO of Girteka Group.
A Strong Move in a Declining Market
In the first quarter of 2025, new heavy-duty truck registrations in the EU fell by 16.6%, with double-digit declines in major markets like Germany, France, Spain, and Italy1. Girteka’s investment signals its commitment to stability and service continuity, even amid a slowing market.
The deal includes financing through Volvo Financial Services and Volvo Blue service contracts, ensuring the trucks remain in optimal technical condition.
Designed for Driver Comfort, Safety, and Efficiency
For professional drivers, trucks are not just vehicles—they are workplaces. The new Volvo FH and Volvo FH Aero trucks ordered by Girteka are designed with both high performance and daily driving comfort in mind.
Key features include:
- Electric parking climate control, improving rest conditions for drivers.
- An aerodynamic cab design on the Volvo FH Aero, which reduces fuel consumption by up to 5%.
- The new Camera Monitor System by Volvo Trucks, which enhances direct visibility and increases road safety, helping to prevent accidents and delivery delays.
Each truck is integrated into Girteka’s digital systems, enabling smarter maintenance planning and faster responses in case of technical issues. This is part of the company’s broader approach to providing drivers with stable working conditions and reliable equipment, allowing them to focus fully on their delivery responsibilities.
“These trucks represent cutting-edge advancements in performance, fuel efficiency, and safety. We are proud to see them supporting one of Europe’s largest transport companies,” said Roger Alm, President of Volvo Trucks.
Supporting Key Industry Sectors
Girteka operates one of the largest asset-based logistics networks in Europe. Modernizing its fleet will allow the company to maintain and scale its services for key sectors such as food and beverages, FMCG, retail, and high-value goods.
“Our clients rely on us for on-time deliveries across borders, with goods arriving in perfect condition,” Liachovičius added. “This investment strengthens that promise with the most modern and efficient fleet available.”
