In May 2025, European law firm Fieldfisher officially launched operations in Poland, opening two new offices in Warsaw and Kraków. A total of 32 professionals—including lawyers and business development and operations experts—have joined the newly established Fieldfisher Poland team. This move responds to the growing demand for comprehensive legal support for companies expanding beyond their home markets.
Polish Companies Expanding Abroad—and Their Legal Needs Are Evolving
Polish businesses are increasingly investing abroad, particularly in other EU countries. According to recent analyses, nearly half of Polish firms plan to enter new European markets within the next year. Key focus areas include mergers and acquisitions (M&A), cross-border disputes, infrastructure investments, and the renewable energy sector. The rising need for investment financing is also pushing companies to explore bond issuance and syndicated loans from international financial institutions.
Fieldfisher Poland’s new structure is designed to support clients both locally and in cross-border projects, offering legal advice tailored to different regulatory environments and business practices across countries.
Team Composition and Areas of Expertise
The Polish branch is led by Co-Managing Partners Rafał Stroiński and Piotr Szelenbaum. The partner group also includes Roman Iwański, Marcin Huczkowski, and Krzysztof Marzyński. The leadership team is supported by Senior Counsel Andrzej Zając and Director of Development and Operations Adam Piwakowski. In total, Fieldfisher Poland comprises five partners, one senior counsel, six counsels, thirteen associates, and seven business support staff.
The firm offers legal services in areas such as mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, intellectual property, tax law, real estate, litigation, and corporate advisory for clients in the technology and energy sectors.
Poland as a Strategic Hub in Central and Eastern Europe
The opening of the Polish offices is part of Fieldfisher’s broader European expansion strategy. Following recent moves into Austria and Italy, the firm now has 25 offices across 13 countries. Poland has been identified as a key market in Central and Eastern Europe due to its increasing economic importance, large domestic market, and significant levels of exports and foreign investment.
Robert Shooter, Managing Partner of Fieldfisher, emphasized that the firm’s presence in Poland enhances its ability to support clients operating in this part of Europe. According to Shooter, the Fieldfisher Poland team brings not only local expertise but also the cross-border capabilities needed for complex international legal projects.
