EuroCert Sp. z o.o. is a Polish company specializing in providing qualified trust services, including PSD2 and QWAC certificates. It is also one of the entities authorized by the National Certification Center to issue qualified electronic signatures. Recently, reports surfaced claiming that the company had fallen victim to a hacker attack, which has now been confirmed by EuroCert.
Data Breach at EuroCert – What Information Was Exposed?
According to the company, the breach led to the theft of personal data from some of its clients. The exposed database may have contained:
- Contact details (email addresses, phone numbers)
- PESEL numbers
- First and last names, and birth dates
- ID card series and numbers
- Usernames and passwords
- Images of individuals
What to Do Next?
“If you received an email from EuroCert or have used services associated with the company, it is essential to protect your PESEL number! Be sure to change your password wherever you used the same or similar login information. Pay close attention to any messages or calls you receive, as fraudsters may use your data to impersonate you,” advises Elwira Charmuszko, cybersecurity expert.
