COMPANIESElemental Group Launches Catalyst Recycling Facility in India

Elemental Econrg India Private Limited, a company formed through the merger of Elemental EMEA Global Trade Center DMCC and Econrg Systech Private Limited, will focus on recycling used automotive catalysts in the world’s fastest-growing automotive market.

Technology and Expertise Transfer from Poland

Elemental Econrg India Private Limited is a new branch of Elemental Asia, which officially commenced operations on February 3, 2025, in India. The plant’s equipment and specialized machinery for processing SAC (spent auto catalysts) were sourced from Poland. Representatives from Elemental Asia and Elemental EMEA participated in training the company’s new employees in India.

“The Indian branch will primarily focus on collecting and processing used catalysts. This will significantly optimize our supply chain and enable us to serve customers in this massive market more effectively. Local sales representatives will also build and maintain client relationships, enhancing our competitiveness and helping us adapt better to local needs,” said Tomasz Gontarczyk, Director of Elemental Asia.

Ambitious Development Plans in India

Elemental’s Indian branch aims to process 130 tons of material in its new facility in 2025, with plans to systematically increase this volume in the coming years. Establishing operations in India will strengthen the Group’s market position and optimize raw material acquisition from this promising market. The company adheres to stringent environmental protection standards in the disposal of post-production waste, following European guidelines.

Aakash Sheh, a manager with extensive business experience and deep knowledge of the Indian market’s specifics and dynamics, has been appointed as the director of the new facility. His expertise ensures effective management and the efficient use of the potential of this strategic market. A thorough understanding of local business and cultural nuances is a key success factor for operations in India.

India: An Automotive Powerhouse

India’s automotive industry ranks fourth globally in production and value, based on 2022 statistics. In 2023, India surpassed Japan to become the world’s third-largest automotive market in terms of sales. The scale of the market is reflected in the numbers—according to CEIC Data, over 354 million motor vehicles were registered in India in 2022, and annual production reached 5.5 million vehicles. In 2023, new car sales in the country totaled 4.1 million units.

“The business opportunities in India are enormous, considering the market size and rapid economic growth. In 2024, the country’s population reached 1.43 billion, making India one of the largest and most promising markets globally. Through its local branch, the Elemental Group will gain better access to customers, expand its business network, and increase its market share,” said Mateusz Grabowski, International Business Trade Developer at Elemental Asia.

Strategic Partnerships for Market Expansion

Elemental EMEA Global Trade Center DMCC, a key branch of Elemental Asia, supplies the largest volume of catalysts within the Asian group. The company has representatives across the Middle East who continuously expand their network of partners and contacts. Its strategic location, large-scale operations, and team of experienced specialists make Elemental EMEA a critical part of the group’s success.

Econrg Systech Private Limited, on the other hand, is an established player in the Indian market. Its long-standing presence has earned trust and recognition, easing expansion efforts and fostering relationships with both large and smaller partners who are often wary of foreign entities.

A Sustainable Future in the Indian Market

With India emerging as a global automotive leader, Elemental Econrg India Private Limited is poised to capitalize on the market’s vast potential. By integrating local expertise with global technological innovation, the company is set to strengthen its position as a key player in the automotive recycling industry.
