COMPANIESCybersecurity Solutions for Businesses: Hitachi Launches Advanced Security Operations Center in Krakow

The Security Operations Center, launched as part of Hitachi’s Technology Center in Krakow, aims to provide companies with access to cybersecurity experts without the need to create their own IT departments. For businesses, outsourcing such tasks is a solution that helps avoid high investment costs, protects against increasingly frequent hacker attacks, and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements.

“Cybersecurity is currently a very important aspect for small and medium-sized enterprises for several reasons. First, there is a continually growing amount of sensitive data and expanding infrastructure, which leads to an increased demand for securing them. Second, the number of cyberattacks has recently risen. According to data from the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity, in recent months, reported attacks have even doubled. Around 20,000 attacks have been recorded, with 30% categorized as critical or highly critical. More than 2 billion records were breached,” explains Yuliia Shtukaturova, Senior Vice President of Engineering at GlobalLogic, in an interview with Newseria. “Thus, companies today face significant threats. Another challenge they face involves adapting to numerous regulations, such as GDPR or the NIS2 directive. As a result, they are exposed to reputational damage, operational disruptions, and high costs.”

The Security Operations Center in Krakow is part of Hitachi’s expanding Technology Center in Poland. It combines Hitachi Cyber’s security services with GlobalLogic’s expertise in digital engineering and software, along with a comprehensive market perspective from Hitachi Europe, to create a complete cybersecurity service offering. These centers are primarily designed to meet the cybersecurity needs of small and medium-sized enterprises, which are especially vulnerable to threats as they usually cannot establish their own IT departments. For these businesses, outsourcing such services is the optimal solution. It provides access to skilled specialists and allows them to build cybersecurity capabilities without incurring significant investment costs.

“We have the capability to monitor all types of devices used in sectors such as finance, manufacturing, energy, healthcare, and transportation. We also have employees specialized in certain industries, but our services are available to all sectors,” assures Matt Castonguay, Chief Revenue Officer at Hitachi Cyber.

The services provided by the Security Operations Center in Krakow are designed to include 24/7/365 monitoring of all digital resources of a company, including cloud infrastructure, mobile devices, laptops, and operational technologies used in manufacturing and transportation sectors. As representatives of GlobalLogic emphasize, these areas have distinct security needs, making their protection a significant challenge for businesses. A key aspect of the SOC’s activities will involve tools based on generative artificial intelligence. Importantly, specific tools and actions will be tailored by security specialists to the individual needs of clients, depending on the company’s size and industry.

“The Security Operations Center in Krakow will operate based on a technology-agnostic approach, meaning we will utilize all types of technological stacks, with the most experience in working with Microsoft Sentinel, Google’s Cyclops, and Splunk. The use of artificial intelligence in the security center’s operations is aimed at supporting security analysts in verifying threat alerts by enhancing their grouping and scanning efficiency,” says Matt Castonguay.

According to Future Market Insights, the cybersecurity center services market was valued at $6.3 billion in 2023, with projections for $7 billion in revenue in 2024, and an estimated market size of nearly $20 billion by 2034. Key factors driving this growth include the increasing frequency and severity of cyberattacks and stricter data security requirements for businesses. Experts believe that Poland presents a promising market due to the rising demand for such services and the difficult access to highly qualified specialists.

“Over 70% of companies seeking these types of specialists report difficulties in finding them,” says Yuliia Shtukaturova. “Poland is an ideal place to build synergies between various companies within the Hitachi Group, including Hitachi Cyber, GlobalLogic, and Hitachi Europe. The Security Operations Center in Krakow will serve as a joint base from which they will support clients in Poland and Europe. Initially, we plan to hire several dozen people, but this number is expected to grow significantly.”
