The American Heart of Poland Group (supported by Gruppo San Donato Italy and GKSD Srl) received approval from the President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection on November 12, 2024, to finalize a transaction to take control of the Scanmed Group in Poland, which comprises over 30 medical facilities, including four multispecialty hospitals, three monoclincs, cardiology wards, and a network of primary healthcare clinics and outpatient specialist care.
The President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection emphasized in the rationale for the decision that “AHP’s aim is to increase its presence in new locations as well as in new medical specialties. AHP is interested in long-term stable development in the Polish healthcare market.”
Upon receiving permission from the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection, the American Heart of Poland Group will finalize the transaction to take control over the Scanmed Group. AHP, part of Gruppo San Donato Italy (GSD) and GKSD Srl, specializing in the coordinated diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of civilization diseases, will double the size of its operations in the public healthcare sector. This will significantly expand its geographical coverage, offering medical care to approximately 600,000 patients annually after the merger. This is another step in the development of the American Heart of Poland Group within the public healthcare system in Poland, supported by the leading European medical group – Gruppo San Donato.
Approaching its 25th anniversary, the American Heart of Poland Group has been gradually increasing the number of facilities – since 2022, it has been managing a hospital in Drawsko Pomorskie, and since 2023, it has also been managing a multi-profile hospital in Sztum. Taking over control of the Scanmed Group is another important stage in the development strategy of the American Heart of Poland Group, and GSD, which specializes in all segments of advanced medical care, thereby earns its leading research and educational base on the continent.
